I found an island with a pond in the center that I could only catch trash from. There's also a cliff the the back left of the island. I don't know if this means anything but I caught a moray eel in the ocean.
Spiral Pond Island: got a soft-shelled turtle, saddled bichir, gazami crab, giant isopod, unfinished puzzle. I think these were quite random, common things. All three rocks dropped iron/clay/stone only. Many pearl oysters, horseshoe crabs.
I'm on the exact same island right now. Never seen this layout before! Kinda difficult to picture everything but on the right is also a small plateau.
Dense Cedar Island. Sorry didn't think of a screenshot before I devoured it. No rivers/fruit/spawns other than trunk bugs. One-tall cliffs to the left and right, two-tall at the back (a rock each plus fossil on ground level). Trunk beetles do seem to spawn more quickly, and nothing else will spawn even if all trees felled. Due to limited visibility by the cliffs, deforest all but left beach, and run up and down the palm trees on the left beach farming Atlas moths and Rainbow stags.
i've gotten an island that has no rivers and ponds, but is built like a normal island with trees and some flowers. nothing special has spawned and I'm wondering if this is just a random island with no purpose. this is not the scorpion rock island and I haven't gotten a coelacanth to spawn. I'm a bit confused!
I get islands with the round river and left facing waterfall. I catch olive flounder and squid a lot in the ocean, but the river seems to have a ton of Arowana fish. I have also found multiple piranha, Dorado, and Arapaima to be as common as the pale chubs. Also has water skaters and diving beetles. Fantastic fish catching island. The river looks like a half infinity/sideways ♉/sideways omega and always has a back left facing waterfall
Found an island where the only bugs that spawn are beetles! The island is only comprised of cedar trees and palm trees. There is no pond or river on the island, however fish do spawn in the ocean.

I just got the money rock and scorpion island so I took a higher quality picture than the one you have so that you can use it
i think there's a diving beetle island, I went once at night an that's all that spawned and some snapping turtles
Mole crickets seem to spawn more often on the island with tall cliffs while I was there four spawned within half an hour.
I seem to keep going to the same like 3 basic islands and it's so boring anymore but I did get Tarantula Island once. Was SO tired at 1am quit at 30. Wish I held out for all 40. Catch the 40th then choose to drop/swap the net and go home. Also I take a ladder over the vaulting pole anymore. I have been able to walk around or use the ladder to get to all sides. But you could make a pole if you had to. Article doesn't tell you to take a hatchet. I just clear everything to the ground.
I have been on spiral island like 6 times. Dont remember if early there was any fossils on earliest trips but definitely not lately.
I'm on the island with the waterfall in the back and the only bug it spawns is the water bug. I left all my trees as stumps and nothing. No wharf reaches. Just the giant water bug

I found the same island with nothing but tall cliffs (no pond in middle, just five rocks) but the weather is set to raining. From the rocks I got more iron than usual, mole crickets spawned, a scorpion can spawn here although it's infrequent, and I caught a coelacanth here too along with another big catch! Still an awful island but the rain improves its rating in my book.
Villagers will always spawn on mystery islands as long as your own island isn’t full, so that part was misleading. I’ve never seen an island without one when I had a spot open. Also, I’m pretty sure common island 2 and island with many waterfalls are the same. I’m on it right now and they have the exact same characteristics.
Also, there were flowers at the top of the cliff, but are normal ones. No hybrids. Ah and there were weeds too.
That island didn't spawn any bugs, did it?
