You either need to do nature day as alt or buy from Leif on 3 separate days when he's on your island.

The only thing I remember from seasonal events is that the character you're playing as can't already know the recipes. If they do, then the balloons and villagers don't give them. So, if you and your alts are all diy knowledgeable then I'll just need to wait until the events come around to get them. I found that out the hard way when trying to get diy for kids on other island.
