| Strengths | |||
|---|---|---|---|
|
• Strong buffer to Echo Skill-focused teams. He gives huge amplification to Echo Skill DMG for other Resonators, making him an enabler for these teams. • Short on-field time due to his fast internal rotations and Concerto generation. |
|||
| Weaknesses | |||
|
• His own damage is quite underwhelming and isn't a strong-suit at S0. You'll need S3 or higher for him to be a decent DPS unit. • Echo Skill DMG is still an uncommon damage type for most Resonators. Only a select number of Resonators benefit from it currently. |
Qiuyuan is a 5-star Aero sub-DPS that is essential in Echo Skill-centric teams because of his unique amplification capabilities to this DMG type. Furthermore, his rotations are quite fast, so other DPS Resonators can maximize his buffs. He excels at what he does, which is providing support to these niche teams.
His main downside is that outside of this archetype, he doesn't offer much value anywhere else. His own damage is lackluster prior to getting S3, which reduces his value as a sub-DPS universally. Aside from that, there aren't a lot of Resonators that actually scale off Echo Skill DMG, aside from Galbrena, Phrolova, and Cantarella.

1. CRIT Rate ★★★ 2. CRIT DMG ★★★ 3. Energy Regen ★★★ 4. Heavy Attack DMG Bonus ★★ 5. ATK% ★★ 6. Flat ATK ★ | ||
Qiuyuan benefits the most from the Law of Harmony set, as it improves his Echo Skill DMG buffs even more. He can easily trigger its effects, boosting his buffing capabilities further. As for the 2-pc set, any Aero DMG Bonus set like the Sierra Gale is preferred since you can reach his 130% Energy Regen requirement through substat rolls. Otherwise, a 2-pc Moonlit Clouds or Tidebreaking Courage can be used instead to add 10% Energy Regen.
For Echoes, the typical 4-3-3-1-1 configuration with a CRIT main stat, followed by 2 Aero DMG and 2 ATK% pieces. As he scales off Heavy Attack DMG, we suggest rolling for this sub-stat alongside balancing his Crit. Ratio and ATK.
| Priority Stats | 65% Crit Rate or more 130% Energy Regen or more |
|---|---|
| Other Stats | Crit DMG > Aero DMG > Heavy Attack DMG > ATK |
For Qiuyuan's Echo Stats, prioritize getting at least 65% Crit. Rate, as his Liberation gives other Resonators 2% Crit. DMG for every 1% of Crit. Rate that exceeds the 50% threshold, up to 30% max.
You also want to get around 130% Energy Regen on him to have his Liberation up per rotation, given his short on-field time. Afterward, focus on his own damage by getting Crit. DMG, Aero DMG, Heavy Attack DMG, and ATK.

Qiuyuan can also function as a general purpose Sub-DPS that can provide unconditional 30% Crit DMG from his Resonance Liberation and ATK from the Moonlit Clouds set & the Impermanent Heron echo. This takes advantage of Qiuyuan's quick rotations to make sure any Main DPS can take over the team's DPS uptime.
For the Echoes, use the 4-3-3-1-1 configuration with a 4-COST Crit Rate to hit the 65% Crit Rate requirement, two Aero DMG 3-COSTS, and 2 ATK% 1-COSTS. Remember to hit atleast 130% Energy Regen to ensure his Liberation, the one that provides the 30% Crit DMG, is used during his rotation.

1. CRIT Rate ★★★ 2. CRIT DMG ★★★ 3. Heavy Attack DMG Bonus ★★★ 4. Energy Regen ★★ 5. ATK% ★★ 6. Flat ATK ★ | ||
With Qiuyuan's S3, he becomes a viable DPS that scales off two types of damage: Heavy Attack DMG for his Forte and Echo Skill DMG for his Liberation. You mainly want to use his Forte first, while his Liberation is more of a supplementary skill. Thus, we suggest focusing on Heavy Attack DMG first, especially since you can't farm Echo Skill DMG.
For his Echoes, use the 4-3-3-1-1 configuration with a 4-COST CRIT piece, two Aero DMG 3-COSTs, and two ATK% 1-COSTs. As for sub-stats, get and balance as much Crit as possible, as well as Heavy Attack DMG and ATK. You can de-prioritize Energy Regen a bit, since he'll have more on-field time, but you still want to get it for better rotations.
| Main Echo | Explanation |
|---|---|
|
|
・The best main Echo for Qiuyuan due to its high synergy with his kit. ・It boosts Aero DMG and Heavy Attack DMG which Qiuyuan scales off of. ・This belongs in the Law of Harmony set that is highly preferred for him for its team-wide Echo Skill DMG buffs. |
|
|
・A second choice for Qiuyuan if you're running the Moonlit Clouds set. ・Transform-type Echo, which is a bit tedious to use in rotations. ・Requires activation to get the damage boost after Outro skill. |
|
|
・A considerable choice for Qiuyuan. ・Summon-type Echo that deals Aero DMG over a few seconds. ・Gives Heavy Attack DMG and Aero DMG Bonuses while equipped. |

★★★ - Best Qiuyuan maximizes the benefits of Law of Harmony, as his kit primarily revolves around Echo Skills and Heavy Attack DMG. He is able to get the team-wide Echo Skill DMG bonus consistently, making it quite ideal. As for the secondary set, we suggest getting an ER set like Moonlit Clouds since he needs around 130% of the stat to have more consistent rotations. Recommended Main Echo: |
|
(5-pc) |
★★☆ - 2nd Best Moonlit Clouds is a secondary option for Qiuyuan if you mainly want to use him as a sub-DPS unit. Using Outro buffs the next Resonator, together with the Impermanence Heron skill, making it a viable option. Furthermore, this lets him have more Energy Regen to have comfortable rotations with his kit. Recommended Main Echo: |
|
(5-pc) |
★★☆ - 3rd Best The 5-pc Sierra Gale is an option for Qiuyuan to boost his own damage during team rotations. The Aero DMG buffs are easy to get upon using his Intro Skill and improves all of his damaging skills. He will also benefit from the Heavy Attack DMG and Aero DMG Bonuses from Nightmare: Feilian Beringal. Run this if you mainly want to have him as a Main DPS. Recommended Main Echo: |

| 7 |
|
Daybreak When the Resonator's HP drops below 40%, increases Heavy Attack DMG by 18% and heals them by 5% upon dealing Heavy Attack DMG. This effect can be triggered 1 time(s) every 8s. |
Qiuyuan's best weapon is undoubtedly Emerald Sentence, as it improves his Heavy Attack DMG and increases his supportive capabilities even further. If you're running him as primarily a sub-DPS to Echo Skill DMG-centric teams, the value it offers is unmatched.
There are a few alternative options for Qiuyuan, however, given that there is a decent selection of Sword weapons in the game. You can pick up Emerald of Genesis for its general stats and effect, although Red Spring can be used simply as a stat stick.
For 4-star options, Lumingloss is excellent because of its Heavy Attack DMG buffs. If you have the event-exclusive weapon, Somnoire Anchor, it's also a decent option for its effect. Lastly, Commando of Conviction and Sword#18 are worth considering if you don't have any of the other mentioned weapons.

| Character | Explanation |
|---|---|
| | Sub-DPS Replacement for Shorekeeper Lupa can replace Shorekeeper for a more damage-oriented team. Together with Qiuyuan, all buffs on Fusion DMG and Echo Skill DMG are funneled towards Galbrena for a hypercarry team. Do note that there is no healing available in this team. |
| | DPS Replacement for Shorekeeper Phrolova can fit the team to provide extra DPS off-field. She can buff Qiuyuan's Heavy Attack DMG while also benefitting from his Echo Skill DMG buffs. Do note that this team has no dedicated healer. |
| | Sub-DPS Replacement for Shorekeeper Iuno can replace Shorekeeper to be more focused on damage with some healing capabilities. She can buff Heavy Attack DMG, which Qiuyuan scales off of, and she can heal at the same time. |
Qiuyuan is best paired with Galbrena due to their synergy with Echo Skill casts. Qiuyuan is inarguably Galbrena's best sub-DPS option, as he is the sole unit that can buff Echo Skill DMG, which she primarily scales off of.
As for the third unit, Shorekeeper is the best option because of her general DMG buffs and healing capabilities. That said, you can replace her with other support units or even other sub-DPS characters.
| 1 | Start off with Shorekeeper and go through her internal rotations to build up her Resonance and Concerto gauges. Once her Liberation is available, activate Stellarealm and switch out to Qiuyuan when his Intro is ready to use. |
|---|---|
| 2 | After Qiuyuan enters with his Intro, follow it up with two Basic Attacks to fill his Forte to full stacks. Then, cast Echo Skill and Liberation to deal extra damage to enemies. |
| 3 | Next, hold his Heavy Attack button to perform a 3-step attack string that consumes his Forte for enhanced damage. Lastly, cast his Resonance Skill and switch out to Galbrena via Outro. |
| 4 | With Galbrena now on-field, cast her Echo Skill and deal 6 Basic Attacks to fill her Sinflame, then cast Resonance Skill to enter Demon Hypostasis. |
| 5 | In Demon Hypostasis, cast Liberation to deal massive damage and increase her skills' DMG multipliers. Continue this combo with 7 Basic Attacks to consume her Forte energy. |
| 6 | Once Forte is depleted and Concerto full, switch back to Shorekeeper to detonate Stellarealm. |
| 7 | Repeat until no enemies are left on the field. |

Qiuyuan is viable in Phrolova and Cantarella's team, buffing their Echo Skill DMG significantly. He essentially replaces Roccia in the Mono Havoc team to get a team-wide buff. Each member gives a buff to the succeeding Resonator in the team.
| 1 | Initiate with Phrolova and build her Volatile Notes up with her Basic Attack and Resonance Skill combos. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Once her Volatile Notes count to 6, perform Scarlet Coda to enter the Resolving Chord state. During this state, activate her Liberation to summon Hecate. |
| 3 | With Hecate available in combat, Phrolova can control her even off-field. Switch to Qiuyuan with her Outro to amplify his Heavy Attack DMG. |
| 4 | As Qiuyuan enters via his Intro, do two Basic Attacks to fill his Swordster's Soliloquy Forte. Once done, cast Echo Skill and Liberation to deal extra damage to enemies. |
| 5 | With Swordster's Soliloquy full, hold the Heavy Attack button to do his 3-attack string that consumes his stacks for extra damage. Then, cast his Resonance Skill and switch out to Cantarella via Outro. |
| 6 | Upon entering, immediately cast Cantarella's Resonance Skill and Liberation to get max Trance stacks. |
| 7 | Then, enter the Mirage state and do her ideal combos to Stagnate enemies and heal the team. Once her Outro is available, switch to Phrolova once again to buff her Havoc and Resonance Skill DMG. |
| 8 | Repeat steps 1 to 7 to maximize Hecate's off-field attacks. Echo Skills empower its attacks, which Qiuyuan and Cantarella excel at doing. |

Use 5-pc Moonlit Clouds w/ Heron |
|
| Character | Explanation |
|---|---|
| | Support Replacement for Shorekeeper A semi free-to-play replacement for Shorekeeper if you don't have her. She uses a 5-pc Rejuvenating Glow set like Shorekeeper. |
| | Sub-DPS Replacement for Shorekeeper The free-to-play replacement if you don't both Verina or Shorekeeper. She also uses a 5-pc Rejuvenating Glow set. |
Considering his quick rotations, unconditional 30% Crit DMG boost from his Resonance Liberation, and the ATK boosts from Moonlit Clouds & Impermanence Heron, Qiuyuan can become a general Sub-DPS that buffs both Crit DMG and ATK. Pair this with Shorekeeper and you can use the duo with any Main DPS as long as their skills scale off the ATK stat.
Do note that this comp renders Qiuyuan's Outro useless as you will most likely use this on non-Echo teams. Nevertheless, it's a good option if you have limited characters in your roster.

At S3, Qiuyuan is capable of dealing decent damage to become the Main DPS of a team. He will primarily scale-off Heavy Attack, so use Heavy Attack buffers like Iuno or Mortefi. At the third slot, use any Support characters like Shorekeeper or Verina.

|
| ① | Enter the field with his Intro to automatically generate 400 points of Swordster's Soliloquy. Then, follow it up with two Basic Attacks to get his Forte to max stacks. |
|---|---|
| ② | Once full, use Echo Skill and Liberation to maximize his team-wide Echo Skill DMG buffs from his Forte. |
| ③ | After casting Resonance Liberation, hold the Heavy Attack button to perform his 3-attack string, with all 3 considered as Echo Skill casts. |
| ④ | Lastly, cast his Resonance Skill for more damage and exit with his Outro to buff the next Resonator with Echo Skill DMG Amplification. |
| Forte Stack Count | Unlocked Effects |
|---|---|
| 200 points | Basic Attack transforms into Basic Attack - Thus Spoke the Blade: Inkwash. This is a 4-stage attack sequence that deals Heavy Attack DMG and generates more of Swordster's Soliloquy. |
| 400 points | Grants all nearby active Resonators an extra 30% Echo Skill DMG Bonus. |
| 600 points | Qiuyuan enters the Inksplash of Mind state for 8s. His Heavy Attack transforms into Thus Spoke the Blade. This is a 3-attack combo with each one being considered as an Echo Skill cast and deals Heavy Attack DMG. |
Qiuyuan's kit primarily revolves around his Forte, Swordster's Soliloquy. For every 200 stacks, up to a maximum of 600 points, his skills become enhanced and provides buffs to the entire team.
| Skill | Points Earned |
|---|---|
| Intro Skill | 400 points |
| Basic Attack Stage 3 | 100 points |
| Basic Attack Thus Spoke the Blade: Inkwash | 100 points (up to 400) |
| Dodge Counter | 100 points |
You can generate Swordster's Soliloquy with Qiuyuan's Basic Attacks and Intro Skill. His Intro Skill, in particular, gives a lot of points which is useful to have at the start of combat.

| Skill Effect | For every 1% of Crit Rate over 50%, all nearby active Resonators will get 2% Crit. DMG for 30s, up to 30%. |
|---|
Qiuyuan's Resonance Liberation has an effect that gives other Resonators essentially 30% Crit. DMG when his Crit. Rate is at 65%. Make sure to meet this stat requirement to maximize its effects.
Do note that you have to activate his Liberation to get this effect, so make sure to have around 130% Energy Regen to have this skill available per rotation!
Qiuyuan's Resonance Skill can be used similarly to how parries work. In the small window just before he takes damage, cast this skill to become immune to this instance of DMG and stagnate enemies in the process.
You can also hold Resonance Skill for extra mobility. Qiuyuan will continue dashing through the air at the cost of STA. If there are nearby enemies, ending the dash will deal Echo Skill DMG to them.
Qiuyuan's Dodge Counter is particularly useful, as it automatically triggers while you attack enemies in the field. After using a Basic Attack or Heavy Attack, Qiuyuan negates the next instance of DMG he takes and performs Dodge Counter to the attacking enemy.
| Outro Skill | 50% Echo Skill DMG Amplification to next Resonator for 14s or until the Resonator is switched out. |
|---|
Qiuyuan is the premier Echo Skill DMG amplifier in Wuthering Waves. He is the only unit to have this effect, with his Outro being particularly powerful. Make sure to use it when switching out to a different Resonator.
| Combo |
|---|
| Intro → BA (x2) → Echo Skill → Res. Lib → HA (Hold until Forte is depleted) → Res. Skill → Outro |
This combo utilizes his Forte gauge, Swordster's Soliloquy, while also maximizing his short on-field time so other Resonators can benefit from his buffs.
His Intro is essential to his combo to get an instantaneous 400 points of his Forte, followed by 2 Basic Attacks to get a full bar. Then, cast his Resonance Liberation to deal big Echo Skill DMG. Afterward, cast his Heavy Attack string to deplete his stacks for more damage. Lastly, use Resonance Skill and exit with Outro.

| Skill | Priority | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Attack | ★★☆☆☆ | Focus on upgrading his other skills first, as his transformed Basic and Heavy Attacks scale off his Forte Circuit and not his Normal Attack. That said, you still want to upgrade this later on, as his Dodge Counter is quite reliable in battle. |
| Resonance Skill | ★★★☆☆ | Qiuyuan's Resonance Skill doesn't do as much damage compared to his Forte and Liberation, but is still recommended due to its damage negation utility. His skill is useful whenever available and is an extra damage source regardless. |
| Forte Circuit | ★★★★★ | His Forte Circuit is one of his primary sources of damage, as his transformed attacks scale off it. We suggest upgrading this first. |
| Resonance Liberation | ★★★★☆ | Qiuyuan's Liberation is one of his strongest abilities and applies instantaneous burst damage upon casting. Upgrade this second after his Forte. |
| Intro Skill | ★★☆☆☆☆ | His Intro Skill is an extra damage source that has decent scaling, but not to the extent of his other primary damaging skills. You can prioritize this last to make way for his other abilities. |
Qiuyuan's main sources of damage are his Forte Circuit and Resonance Liberation skills. Focus on upgrading them first, followed by his Resonance Skill and Normal Attack. As for his Intro Skill, it doesn't offer much value apart from giving extra damage. Only upgrade it when you have the resources.

| Why We Recommend It | |
|---|---|
| S1 | ★★★☆☆ - Good Qiuyuan's S1 isn't anything too special. It gives extra Crit. Rate, making building him a lot easier. Furthermore, it makes his enhanced Heavy Attacks uninterruptible but doesn't provide much damage-wise. |
| S2 | ★★★★☆ - Great S2 is a great node to have because it improves Qiuyuan's Echo Skill buffing capabilities. His value increases a lot as a sub-DPS for Echo Skill-oriented teams, solidifying him as an essential unit for these team comps. For a sub-DPS Qiuyuan, this is a great stopping point. |
| S3 | ★★★★★ - Amazing His S3 drastically improves his damage and makes him viable as a DPS unit. The sequence node gives a lot of new sources of damage for him and his overall kit receives a bit of a revamp. If you want to run him as Main DPS, this is highly recommended and even required. |
| S4 | ★☆☆☆☆ - Mediocre His S4 is very underwhelming, as it doesn't give a lot of benefits other than the extra ATK. We don't recommend getting this node, unless you're aiming for higher tiers. |
| S5 | ★★★☆☆ - Good S5 is a good node to have because of its big impact to Qiuyuan's overall damage. All of his skills now ignore 15% DEF, which is great if you're running him as a Main DPS. |
| S6 | ★★★☆☆ - Good S6 further increases his overall DPS potential by adding a new source of damage from his Inksplash of Mind. Furthermore, he gains a huge 100% Crit. DMG upon casting his Resonance Skill. |
| S1 | Sword Sheated, Mind Unclouded Thus Spoke the Blade: To Teach, Thus Spoke the Blade: To Save, and Thus Spoke the Blade: To Sacrifice can no longer be interrupted. Qiuyuan gains 20% Crit. Rate increase. |
|---|---|
| S2 | O Blade, I, Who Teach No More Bamboo's Shade now grants an additional 30% Echo Skill DMG Amplification to all nearby active Resonators in the team. |
| S3 | O Blade, I, Who Save No More The DMG Multiplier of Resonance Liberation Sundering Strike is increased by 500%. If Concerto Energy is full when not in the Inksplash of Mind state, Qiuyuan's Resonance Skill is replaced with Resonance Skill Straw Cape in Drizzly Rain, available once every 20s. Upon casting Straw Cape in Drizzly Rain, the Quietude Within effect immediately ends and 60 Concerto Energy is consumed to deal Aero DMG equal to 500% of Qiuyuan's ATK, considered Echo Skill DMG, and restore 400 points of Swordster's Soliloquy. The next Basic Attack is replaced with Thus Spoke the Blade: Inkwash Stage 3. Upon casting Straw Cape in Drizzly Rain, Qiuyuan cannot gain the Quietude Within effect the next time he enters Inksplash of Mind. Thus Spoke the Blade: To Teach, Thus Spoke the Blade: To Save, and Thus Spoke the Blade: To Sacrifice gain 600% DMG Multiplier increase and additionally restore 30 points of Concerto Energy on hit. When not in Co-op mode, upon casting Straw Cape in Drizzly Rain, the next Outro Skill is replaced with Outro Skill Sheath Fallen, New Shoots Revealed, which deals Aero DMG equal to 500% of Qiuyuan's ATK, considered Echo Skill DMG. |
| S4 | O Blade, I, Who Sacrifice No More ATK is increased by 20%. |
| S5 | O Blade, I, Who Await to be Wielded Qiuyuan now ignores 15% of the target's DEF when dealing damage. |
| S6 | Thus I Heard, Thus I Saw, Thus I Spoke Casting Heavy Attack Thus Spoke the Blade: To Sacrifice stagnates nearby targets for 5s or until the targets are damaged or until Qiuyuan is switched off the field. This effect is not available in the Co-op mode. When Qiuyuan is the active Resonator in the team, upon exiting Inksplash of Mind, he deals Aero DMG equal to 600% of his ATK to all targets within range, considered Echo Skill DMG. Casting Resonance Skill Straw Cape in Drizzly Rain increases Qiuyuan's Crit. DMG by 100% for 6s. Switching to another Resonator ends this effect early. |
