How to Unlock The Bygone Shall Always Return
Complete By Moon's Fated Light
To unlock The Bygone Shall Always Return, players need to complete the prior Main Quest, By Moon's Fated Light.

The Bygone Shall Always Return Walkthrough
Return to Ragunna City
Return to Ragunna City to start The Bygon Shall Always Return main quest. Teleport to the Resonance Nexus and head to the fountain square to find Brant and Roccia.
After the cutscene, Rover will be transported to a cave. Exit the cave, following the apparitions, to trigger a cutscene where Galbrena will first appear. The quest will start as soon as the cutscene ends.
Upon returning to Ragunna City, ride the wingray to continue the quest.

Trace the Dark Tide's Frequency
Follow the streaks of violet to pursue the Dark Tide's frequency. Defeat the Tidespawn that appear afterwards, and interact with the Strange Dark Tride trace to continue.
After a cutscene, follow the traces again, and enter the Tacet Field at the end of the trail.
Attack the Cocoon
A Thundering Mephis and a Cocoon will appear upon entering the Tacet Field. Ignore Thundering Mephis and focus on attacking the Cocoon. Exit the Tacet Field after the voicelines and cutscene to proceed.
Examine the Strange Dark tride trace after the cutscene with Avidius to continue the quest.
Defeat the Tidespawn
Ride the wingray to head to Averardo Vault and trigger a cutscene. Defeat the Tidespawn that appear afterwards to continue.
Explore the Civilization Capsule
Head towards the cube at the center upon entering the Civilization Capsule. An interactive cutscene will occur after touching the cube, requiring players to tap/click, hold, or drag elements in the cutscene to continue.
Escape the Civilization Capsule
Defeat the Tidespawn resembling a Kerasaur to continue. Head to the edge of the platform afterwards, then ride the wingray to exit the Civilization Capsule.
Head to Thessaleo Fells
After the cutscene following the escape from the Civilization Capsule, follow the flight path to arrive at Thessaleo Fells. Defeat the Tidespawn within the vicinity upon landing to proceed.

Find Cantarella and Avidius
After defeating the Tidespawn, find Cantarella on the other side of the building to trigger a cutscene. Head southwest afterwards to find Avidius and continue the quest.

Defeat the Mad King: Caligula
After the cutscene with Avidius, defeat the Mad King: Caligula, who will appear afterwards.
Note that the Mad King: Caligula is similar to the False Sovereign in patterns and moveset.

Return to Cantarella
After defeating Mad King: Caligula, head northeast to return to Cantarella to trigger a cutscene. The quest is completed after the cutscene ends.
