List of Contents
Normal Attacks are the Resonators' main way to deal damage to enemies, outside of using Skills and their respective Resonance Liberations.
The attack pattern of Normal Attacks differ between Resonators, based on their main weapon and overall playstyle.
Depending on what character is currently active on the field, their mid-air Basic Attack will vary.
Some will dash through the air, while others might do a plunging attack. Some might continue a combo while mid-air, while others do not have anything notable and prefer to be on the ground.
Holding down the Basic Attack Button will result in a Heavy Attack, which will consume a portion of your stamina bar.
Much like the mid-air Basic Attack, the effects of Heavy Attacks will differ depending on the current character active on the field.
Dodging is an essential part of the combat flow in Wuthering Waves, and doing it at the perfect time will result in Extreme Evasion, avoiding damage while continuing the offensive.
Each opponent has their own distinctive attack pattern, telegraphed by their movement. Press the Dodge button just before an attack is about to hit you to successfully Dodge the attack.
In the middle of an enemy's attack pattern, a certain ring of light will appear. Attacking as it glows its brightest will result in a successful parry.
The timing for it varies depending on the attack that they launches, so pay attention to how the enemy attacks.
In a successfully parry, the opponent may be Paralyzed, allowing the Resonators to attack them as they please. For those that have a "stagger bar" below their health bar, that also decreases as they take hits.
Resonators can also launch a Finishing Attack while the enemy is Paralyzed.
How to Parry and Counterattack
The Forte Circuit is one of two Skills a Resonator possesses, and is more of a passive ability. Their Forte Circuit defines a Resonator's playstyle, and varies in their effects.
Using a Resonator's Forte Circuit requires them to fill up its own unique gauge called the Forte Gauge through attacks, which then triggers the Skill when it is filled up to max.
Forte Guide | How to Level Up Fortes
The Resonance Skill is an ability that Resonators can use with varying effects. Some can provide heals and buffs, while others might deal damage to the enemy.
They can be activated at will inside and outside of combat, compared to the Forte Gauge which requires filling up the Forte Gauge first.
Attacks and Resonance Skills will constantly fill up the Resonance Gauge, which is essential to eventually use the Resonance Liberation.
The Resonance Gauge differs between Resonators; some may fill up their Resonance Gauge very easily, while others need a lot of energy in order to fill the Resonance Gauge.
Resonance Liberation serves as a Resonator's ultimate ability, and using it expends a full Resonance Gauge. Effects may vary between Resonators.
Characters use a special ability called an Intro Skill when they are switched into combat. They immediately join the battle with a special attack to an enemy.
As a Resonator is switched out of combat, they also trigger another skill called an Outro Skill.
The effects of an Outro Skill differ between Resonators. Some provide buffs while others deals damage through an attack. There are a select few with unique effects when their Outro Skill is triggered.
Echoes are one of the most unique features in Wuthering Waves, as they come from Tacet Discords--the monsters you encounter--that you defeat in battle. They have a chance to drop an Echo, which Resonators can collect.
Depending on the Echo's Echo Ability, some of them can be summoned alongside the Resonator for a brief period. In other instances, the Resonator can transform into the Echo they have equipped first in slot.
The Echo equipped in the first slot will serve as the main Echo that can be summoned or be transformed into. The other slots turn Echoes into equippment to give the Resonators additional stats.
List of All Echoes and Sonata Effects
Some attacks have a tighter timing restriction than others. Watch how the enemies launch their attacks to get a better feel of when to hit the Dodge button.
For the most part, most Intro Skills deal damage as soon as they are switched into battle. This keeps up the aggressive playstyle of combat in Wuthering Waves, encouraging players to rotate between their party members.
Successfully doing an Extreme Evasion will also fill up part of the Resonance Gauge, encouraging players to time their dodges correctly to get to their Resonance Liberation faster.
The character's portrait on the right side of the screen will glow with sound waves if Intro and Outro Skills become available to use for that Resonator. Think of it as an internal cooldown to keep track of in battle.
Upon leveling an Echo, players can tune their Echoes to unlock more substats, providing even more stat boosts to the Resonator equipped with it.
To get stronger and rarer variations of Echoes, players must level up their Data Dock, which serves as their database and encyclopedia about the various Echoes you collect in Wuthering Waves.
