How Strong is Lingyang?

Strengths
・Very high Glacio damage with the right build
・Consistently uses his Resonance Skill
・Can auto-dodge ground attacks while in Striding Lion
Weaknesses
・Lower HP and DEF compared to most other 5-Stars
・Lacks AoE attacks

Lingyang excels at single-target damage, especially while he's in the air during the Striding Lion state. Even though he's a Basic Attacker, he also benefits from Resonance Skill buffs with how often he uses it.

Unfortunately, he has low HP and Defense when compared to other 5-Stars, especially other Main DPS characters. Also, he's bad at dealing with groups since his kit's heavily focused on single-target damage.

Lingyang Best Weapon Explained

Abyss Surges is by far Lingyang's best weapon since you'll be constantly using his Resonance Skill in between his basic attacks. If you don't have one, you can use any of the Gauntlets listed above since they either increase his damage output, or they synergize well with the constant use of his Resonance Skill.

Main DPS Sub-DPS Support
Wuthering Waves - LingyangLingyang Wuthering Waves - ZhezhiZhezhi Wuthering Waves - ShorekeeperShorekeeper

This is a premium team that has Lingyang as the main DPS, with Zhezhi providing him with buffs as a Glacio Sub-DPS, and Shorekeeper with more buffs and healing for both Glacio Resonators.

General Rotation

1 Open with the Shorekeeper, and charge her Resonance Liberation as well as the Concerto Energy, while summoning Butterflies with her Basic Attacks and Resonance Skill.
2 Use Shorekeeper's Resonance Liberation when it is available. Switch to Zhezhi once Concerto Energy is maxed out to trigger Zhezhi's Intro Skill for Shorekeeper's Resonance Liberation.
3 Use Zhezhi's optimal rotation to summon 3 Phantasmic Imprints, enabling her to execute her full combo. This should help charge both her Resonance Liberation and Concerto Energy.
4 Use Zhezhi's Resonance Liberation, and swap out to Lingyang with maximum Concerto Energy to give him Zhezhi's Outro Skill buff.
5 Once Lingyang is on-field, rotate through his combos to maximize damage while Zhezhi and Shorekeeper's buffs persist. Make sure to charge Concerto Energy again as well.
6 Once Lingyang has gone through his rotations, switch to Shorekeeper with max Concerto Energy to have her detonate her Resonance Liberation's Field. Repeat the steps until the enemy is felled.

3 Activate Striding Lion as soon as possible to buff Lingyang's Basic Attacks and maximize his damage output.
4 Swap out to your support whenever you need to heal, or to apply their buffs. Swap back to Sanhua and start building up Concerto Energy again, or swap to Sanhua directly if you don't need your support to do either.
5 Repeat the steps until the enemy is felled.

How to Play Lingyang

Lingyang Gameplay Guide

Build Up His Forte Circuit Meter

Wuthering Waves - Buil Up Lingyang
Lingyang maximizes his damage output when he's in the Striding Lion state, so you'll want to prioritize building up his Forte Circuit by using his Intro Skill, Enhanced Resonance Skill, and Resonance Libeartion.

List of Attacks that Fill the Forte Circuit

Attack Amount
Enhanced Resonance Skill
(Enhances After BA3)
20%
Intro Skill 40%
Resonance Liberation 60%

Combo with Enhanced Resonance Skill

Whenever you're using a Basic Attack combo, you'll want to weave in Enhanced Resonance Skills when possible to quickly build up Lingyang's Forte Circuit. You can tell when the ability's enhanced once it glows blue.

Enter Striding Lion When Bar's Full

Once Lingyang's Forte Circuit bar is full, you can enter the Striding Lion state by using a Heavy Attack. Once he's in this state, his attacks will be upgraded to do significantly more damage.

Activate Ult When Bar's 40% Full

Another way to enter the Striding Lion state is to use Lingyang's Ultimate. This will happen as long as you have 40% of your Forte Circuit filled up since using his Ult will give you the extra 60% needed.

If you use his Ult to enter the Striding Lion state, it will last longer thanks to the 50% reduced meter consumption speed. Make sure to use his Ult whenever you can instead of entering Striding Lion via a Heavy Attack.

Use Complimentary Outro Skills

Lingyang's Best Teammates
Wuthering Waves - SanhuaSanhua Wuthering Waves - VerinaVerina Wuthering Waves - BaizhiBaizhi

Before swapping to Lingyang, you'll want to use an Outro Skill that buffs his damage output. Sanhua will buff his Basic Attack's damage while Verina and Baizhi will boost his elemental damage.

As a note, Verina's Outro Skill applies to the whole team instead of just the next character, so you can do a full character rotation of Verina → Sanhua → Lingyang.

Lingyang Recommended Combos

100% Forte Circuit Combo

General Combo
BA 1-3 → Res. Skill → BA 4 → Res. Skill → BA 5 → Res. Skill → BA 3 → Res. Skill → BA 4 → Res. Skill → Basic Striding Lion Combo
Intro Skill Combo
Intro Skill → BA 1-3 → Res. Skill → BA 4 → Res. Skill → BA 5 → Res. Skill → Basic Striding Lion Combo

This will be the generic combo if you need to fill up Lingyang's Forte Circuit meter. To make it easier, you can spam Resonance Skill after Basic Attack 3-5 so that the game automatically buffers the input.

40% Forte Circuit Combo

General Combo
BA 1-3 → Res. Skill → BA 4 → Res. Skill → Resonance Liberation Combo
Intro Skill Combo
Intro Skill → Resonance Liberation Combo

If Lingyang's Resonance Libeartion is ready, you'll only need to perform 2 Resonance Skills, or 1 Intro Skill, before transitioning into the Resonance Liberation Combo.

Basic Striding Lion Combo

Combo
100% Forte Circuit → Lampylumen Myriad → HA → Res. Skill → BA1 → BA 2 → Repeat From Res. Skill → Stormy Kicks

If Lingyang doesn't have his Ult ready, you'll want to use this combo until it's active and ready to be used. Make sure that all 3 Lampylumen Myriad attacks hit to get the full Glacio DMG Boost.

Lampylumen Myriad Echo and Skills: H74

Resonance Liberation Combo

Combo
40% Forte Circuit → Lampylumen Myriad → Res. Liberation → HA / BA1 → Res. Skill → BA1 → BA 2 → Repeat From Res. Skill → Stormy Kicks

This combo can still be used if Forte Circuit > 40%.

Whenever Lingyang has his Resonance Liberation ready, you'll want to perform this combo since it has a higher damage output and Striding Lion will last longer. Again, just make sure all 3 Lampylumen Myriad attacks hit to get the full Glacio DMG Boost.

Lingyang Skill Priority and Forte List

Skill Priority Explanation
Normal Attack ★★★★ Lingyang's Basic Attack should be upgraded alongside his Resonance Skill since they're both heavily used in his non-Striding Lion combos.
Resonance Skill ★★★★ As mentioned above, Lingyang's Resonance Skill should be upgraded simultaneously with his Basic Attack since they're both important for his kit.
Forte Circuit ★★★★★ The bulk of Lingyang's damage comes from his empowered attacks while in his Striding Lion state. Even though you're still using Basic Attacks and his Resonance Skill, the enhanced versions are tied to his Forte Circuit level, making this Lingyang's most important skill upgrade.
Resonance Liberation ★★☆☆☆ Lingyang's Resonance Liberation only has its Skill Damage scaled at higher levels, and his Ult is mainly used to enable Striding Lion and apply the Glacio DMG Bonus.
Intro Skill ☆☆☆☆ While his Intro Skill isn't bad, it's still the lowest priority upgrade when compared to everything else in his kit.

The bulk of Lingyang's damage will come from his Forte Circuit so you have to make sure it is always upgraded to max. Follow it up with his Resonance Skill and Normal Attacks as they are heavily used when outside Striding Lion.

Resonance Liberation takes a backseat since it is mostly only used to enable Striding Lion.

Lingyang Resonance Chain

Recommended Sequence Nodes

Why We Recommend It
S1 ☆☆☆☆☆ - Unimportant
Only get this if you don't want to dodge or if you plan on continuing to upgrade Lingyang's Resonance Chain. This effect does absolutely nothing if you evade enemy attacks or you have other forms of Anti-Interruption.
S2 ★☆☆☆☆ - Bad
This Sequence Node is only useful if you're struggling to generate Resonance Energy on Lingyang. This can be easily remedied by a good build and team comp rather than having to upgrade his Resonance Chain. Do note that it's still a nice bonus to have if you main Lingyang.
S3 ★★★★★ - Amazing
Since you're already using Lingyang's Ult in conjunction with Striding Lion, this is another amazing damage buff to get alongside the Glacio DMG Boost.
S4 ★★★☆☆ - Good
As of v1.0, the only two characters that would benefit from this are Sanhua and Lingyang himself. While it's a nice buff to have, it's only worth getting if you plan to continue ranking up his Resonance Chain.
S5 ★★★★☆ - Great
Lingyang's Ult damage is rather underwhelming when compared to the rest of his kit, and this Sequence Node helps improve it a lot. It also allows him to be used in a more Resonance Liberation-focused team comp with someone like Jianxin.
S6 ★★★★★ - Amazing
Lingyang is already at his strongest while in the Striding Lion state, and unlocking this Sequence Node will further increase the damage of his first Enhanced Basic Attack after using his Resonance Skill.

Unlock All Sequence Nodes to Maximize Damage Output

Lingyang maximizes his damage output while Striding Lion is active, so you'll want to unlock all of his Sequence Nodes to reach the S6 upgrade. Specifically, both S3 and S6 are the best upgrades to get since they augment his attacks while in the Striding Lion state.

All Sequence Node Effects

S1 Lion of Light, Blessings Abound
During Resonance Liberation Lion's Vigor, Lingyang's Anti-Interruption is enhanced.
S2 Dominant and Fierce, Power Unbound
Intro Skill Lion Awakens additionally recovers 10 Resonance Energy for Lingyang, triggered once every 20s.
S3 Jaw-Dropping Feats, Loud and Wide
During Resonance Liberation Lion's Vigor, Lingyang's Basic Attack DMG Bonus is increased by 20%, and Resonance Skill DMG Bonus increased by 10%.
S4 Immortal Bow, in Reverence Flawed
Outro Skill Frosty Marks increases the Glacio DMG Bonus of all team members by 20% for 30s.
S5 Seven Stars Shine, Stepped upon High
Resonance Liberation Strive: Lion's Vigor additionally deals Glacio DMG equal to 200% of Lingyang's ATK.
S6 Demons Tremble, Divine Power Nigh
In the Forte Circuit Striding Lion state, during the first 3s after every Resonance Skill Mountain Roamer, the Basic Attack DMG Bonus for Lingyang's next Basic Attack is increased by 100%.
