The Trials of Old side quest automatically unlocks after completing What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing, Act 3 of Chapter 2.

Talk to Chloe at Porto-Veno Castle
Alternatively, players can get early access to the quest after unlocking Rinascita if they go to Porto-Veno Castle in Thessaleo Fells and talk to Chloe, the apparition named by the castle entrance.

Trials of Old Walkthrough

Go to Porto-Veno Castle
Travel to or use the closest beacon to the Porto-Veno Castle to reach the quest marker. Once there, speak with the white apparition kneeling by the castle entrance.
Note that players may also begin the next step by going to any of the trials before even talking to Chloe.
Complete the Four Trials
After the apparition disappears, players must complete four trials around the area to receive four Porto-Veno Medals. Players can challenge the trials in any order, but it is recommended to go through them in a clockwise rotation, as seen above.

Trial of Bravery
For the Trial of Bravery, players must defeat all three enemies while avoiding getting hit more than three times. Failing to do either objective immediately fails the trial, leaving players needing to reset.
It is recommended to focus on Dodge Counters and Counter Attacks to avoid getting hit and quickly decrease the enemies' vibration strength, allowing for staggers and safe hits.
If still having difficulty, players may charge their DPS and Sub-DPS' Resonance Liberations prior to the fight and use them consecutively to deal high burst damage and tremendously decrease the enemies' vibration strength.
Trial of Swiftness

For the Trial of Swiftness, players must use the grapple and Cuddle Wuddle echo transformation to defeat enemies found along the trial within a time limit. Listed above are the steps to kill all enemies in chronological order.

For the Trial of Perception, players will have to avoid the attacks of Vitreum Dancers by observing and memorizing their patterns beforehand during the observation period. There are three rounds of attacks, which players must finish to complete the trial. Listed above are the possible answer keys to each round.
Trial of Wisdom
For the Trial of Perception, players are tasked with putting the paintings in the correct frames based on the clues given per each frame. Overall, the order should tell a cohesive chronological story, from left to right. Shows in the image above is the correct frame and order per painting.
Deliver Porto-Veno Medals
Once all four trials and Proto-Veno Medals are accomplished and obtained, head back to the castle via the nearby beacon and go to the its front doors to deliver the medals to Chloe. Afterward, investigate the golden spot at the foot of the front doors to complete the quest.
