Imperator is Rinascita's Sentinel taking the appearance of a pegasus in Wuthering Waves. Learn about Imperator's lore, their abilities, and Resonators here!
List of Contents

Imperator is known as the Sentinel of Rinascita, a powerful guardian presiding over its civilization, where its people often turn to it in worship as seen with The Order.
However, there is a clear discrepancy between Imperator’s true form and the way The Order represents it in their illustrations and sculptures. This inconsistency has led to speculation that the nation may be worshipping a false god.

In the Rover’s conversation with Cantarella in The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier, she reveals that Imperator had the ability to split and manipulate space. Using this power, they could select their Resonator by channeling a portion of their energy into an artifact, the sword Tyrvine, which could only be wielded by someone capable of communing with Imperator’s frequency.
The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier Quest Guide

Within Rinascita’s mythos, the region was said to have two divinities: Imperator, who ruled the skies, and Leviathan, who ruled the sea. The nation evolved through the disasters each god wrought, as their most devoted followers clashed in wars of opposing faiths.
That was, until the Dark Tide descended upon Rinascita. To halt the catastrophe, Imperator bestowed a Lantern upon the first Primus, Napoli, who drove back the Dark Tide and established The Order in Rinascita, laying the foundations for the region as it exists today.

In the past, the Rover (also known to the divinity as an Arbiter) granted Imperator unrestricted authority while investigating Leviathan’s true origin. This allowed Imperator to merge with Leviathan in order to fully understand how to eliminate it, which is why Rinascitan mythos depicts Imperator as a Sea-Horse hybrid, unbeknownst to the people.
Upon merging, Imperator realized that Leviathan could not be permanently destroyed as long as humanity exists, but it could be suppressed. This led them to devise multiple plans aimed at either destroying or shackling the Threnodian.

Although there is an established rule that no being can have more than one Resonator at a time, Imperator briefly had two. This was part of their plan to ultimately destroy Leviathan by breaking the natural law. By merging with Leviathan and allowing them to take a second Resonator, Imperator would have violated this rule, triggering a sundering that could kill both divinities and their Resonators.
However, the plan never came to fruition. When Cantarella resonated with Imperator, she chose to return her second awakening instead to aid Fleurdelys in defying the Threnodian.
This made Cantarella Imperator’s former Resonator, while Cartethyia or Fleurdelys is still regarded as Imperator’s Resonator by a technicaility, since she was created while they were merged with Leviathan.

During the events of The Maiden, The Defier, The Death Crier, Imperator offered themselves as a conduit to rebirth Cartethyia’s frequency after Fleurdelys was struck down by the Rover, freeing Leviathan from its host body. This resulted in Imperator’s death, leaving Rinascita without a Sentinel but offering hope through its Blessed Maiden, Cartethyia.
