How Strong is Chisa?

Strengths
• Groundbreaking unit for Negative Status comps. She can fit in any team that uses any of these mechanics.
• Can increase the maximum number of Negative Stacks by up to 3.
• First unit to utilize the Havoc Bane mechanic, which gives a stackable DEF ignore effect on enemies.
• Flexible unit that both deals damage and heals allies.
Weaknesses
• Negative Statuses are still too niche in the game.
• Currently tied to Aero Erosion and Spectro Frazzle teams with minimal upgrades to already existing comps.
• Some of her buffing capabilities are locked behind her S2 and weapon, Kumokiri.
• Lackluster damage on her own, but is significantly improved with her S3 and S6 nodes.

Chisa is the first unit to utilize the Havoc Bane mechanic, essentially being able to stack DEF reduction on enemies with this mechanic and her Outro. She fits into multiple Negative Status-centric comps, but is limited by its niche presence in the game.

Her value is tied with being a flexible unit, acting as both a sub-DPS and support unit in one character. Her playstyle revolves around dealing damage while shielding and healing the entire team.

High Potential Character in Future Updates

She is likely to be a meta character with future updates of the game due to her essentially being able to fit in any Negative Status team comps. With the possibility of more units that focus on these mechanics being introduced over time, she is worth considering pulling.

Chisa is a hybrid sub-DPS support unit that is built around the Havoc Bane mechanic to buff Negative Status-centric teams like with Spectro Frazzle and Aero Erosion. She can go for a more damage-oriented build with the 2.8 set, Thread of Severed Fate, or centered towards supporting with Rejuvenating Glow.

Her main role in the team is to deal additional damage during her on-field time while generating shields and heals in the process, so you want to build her CRIT stats and ATK. For her 3-COSTs, you may consider ATK instead of Havoc DMG since they perform about the same damage, with ATK dealing just a bit less to trade for better heals and shields.

In specific Negative Status team comps where the DPS scales off ATK, Rejuvenating Glow is quite viable on her. This acts as a tradeoff for her own personal damage to boost her heals and funnel buffs towards the damage dealer in the team. Do note that this is not recommended for Cartethyia, as she doesn't benefit from ATK due to her scaling with HP.

Chisa Best Echo Sets

・Deals additional DoT via Core of Collapse that hits harder against Havoc Bane-inflicted enemies.

Wuthering Waves - Nightmare: CrownlessNightmare: Crownless
Wuthering Waves - Havoc
・Alternative for Chisa if you don't have the Threnodian Echo.
・She doesn't benefit much from its effects other than having more Havoc DMG, although this is automatically received upon equipping the Echo.
・Transform-type Echo, so the extra damage will affect combos.

This set combo is highly recommended on Chisa, as it fits her kit perfectly. The new set gives extra ATK and Res. Liberation DMG, both being easily triggered due to her Havoc Bane application. Havoc Eclipse gives extra Havoc DMG for better personal damage, although you can replace it with Midnight Veil or even Lingering Tunes due to having a similar effect.

Recommended Main Echo:
Wuthering Waves - Rejuvenating Glow Rejuvenating Glow
(5-pc)
★★☆ - 2nd Best
The 5-pc Rejuvenating Glow is viable for Chisa, as it boosts her supportive capabilities significantly by providing a team-wide ATK buff when she heals her allies. This is recommended if you're going for a more healer build on her rather than a sub-DPS hybrid unit.

★☆☆ - 3rd Best
This combo balances her own damage and healing capabilities, making it ideal for a more support-oriented build. Her heals become more potent with Rejuvenating Glow's 2-pc bonus, benefitting her team a lot if you're running her as the primary sustain unit.

Chisa Best Weapon Explained

Kumokiri is undoubtedly Chisa's signature weapon and is almost essential to have, as it gives her the stats she needs on top of its effect fitting with her Negative Status application. This weapon also gives 24% All-Type DMG Bonus to the entire team, and makes up around one-half of her buffing capabilities.

Alternatively, Lustrous Razor and Wildfire Mark can be used since both give you Resonance Liberation DMG, although Wildfire Mark's effect cannot be extended by her skills. She also has 4-star options like Autumntrace, Waning Redshift, and Helios Cleaver if you have them, viable due to their general effects.

Character / Role Echo Set
Wuthering Waves - CartethyiaCartethyia
(Main DPS)
Wuthering Waves - CiacconaCiaccona

Wuthering Waves - ChisaChisa
(Support)

Chisa can work as a sub-DPS healer for the Aero Erosion team with Cartethyia and Ciaccona. She can increase the maximum number of Aero Erosion stacks that can be applied onto enemies, similar to Rover (Aero), and can reduce enemy DEF with Havoc Bane.

She is a slight upgrade to Aero Rover with Kumokiri, offering around the same benefits to the team but with more consistent healing and shielding. This is worth considering when getting her, as it essentially frees up Rover to be in other teams, such as with Zani or Phoebe in Spectro Frazzle teams.

General Rotation

1 Let Chisa enter the field and initiate with Resonance Skill. Then, do her Basic Attack string up to Death Snip and follow up with Thread Withdrawn. Afterwards, cast her Liberation to fill her Forte bar.
2 With her Forte full, enter Chainsaw Mode with her Resonance Skill. During this time, hold her attack button to perform her full Sawring combo. Chisa will finish with her Sawring - Eradication, which you can then switch to the next Resonator.
3 Have Ciaccona enter the field to immediately generate 1 Musical Essence and inflict 1 Erosion stack on enemies. Follow this up with 2 Basic Attacks to generate one more Musical Essence and let her do a Solo Concert.
4 Do her optimal combos until her Forte is full, then cast a Heavy Attack to group enemies together. Lastly, cast her Resonance Liberation and switch to Cartethyia via Outro. Make sure Ciaccona is applying Aero Erosion with her Liberation.
5 Once Cartethyia enters the field, she will generate 2 Erosion stacks and the Sword of Discord with her Intro. Follow this up with 3 Basic Attacks to apply more Erosion stacks and summon Sword of Divinity.
6 Next, cast Resonance Skill to apply more Erosion stacks and summon Sword of Virtue. Once the three swords are available, do a mid-air attack to recall them.
7 Cast Liberation to transform into Fleurdelys and immediately follow up with her Resonance Skill to group enemies together. Then, do three Mid-air attacks and recast her Resonance Skill to deal more damage.
8 After this, do a Heavy Attack and two Basic Attacks to bring enemies into the air. Lastly, cast her Liberation to deal great Aero DMG in a straight line.
9 Once she de-transforms, you can switch back to Chisa to repeat the rotation.

Chisa works in Spectro Frazzle teams by providing massive DEF reduction on to enemies via Havoc Bane and her Outro Skill, as well as increasing the maximum number of Frazzle stacks that can be applied. She also provides shields and heals for the entire team during her on-field time, making her a viable healer support unit.

Of the two teams, Main DPS Phoebe particularly benefits from her the most due to her being able to activate Kumokiri's All-Type DMG Bonus buff with her Negative Status application. Zani cannot benefit from this, as she does not apply Negative Status effects. Her Heliacal Embers mechanic does not count toward this effect.

Please take note that for supports, Shorekeeper is still the better option due to her more consistent healing, CRIT Rate, and DMG Amplification, although Chisa can be a good replacement and can open her up for other teams.

General Rotation

1 Start combat with Chisa and build up her Forte with her Resonance Skill and Basic Attacks. Once her Forte reaches around 60 points, cast her Liberation to deal good damage, enhance her Sawring attacks, and fill her Forte bar.
2 With her Forte full, cast her enhanced Resonance Skill to enter Chainsaw Mode. Then, hold her attack button to perform her full Sawring attack string and end her rotation.
3 Once the Concerto Gauge is maxed out, switch over to Rover (Spectro). Use Rover's optimal combos to apply Spectro Frazzle in the process. Finish up by swapping to Phoebe when her icon starts to glow.
4 Open with Phoebe's Resonance Skill and Echo Skill to set herself up. Then, enter Absolution mode by holding down the Normal Attack input. Afterwards, unleash Phoebe's Resonance Liberation if it's available.
5 In Absolution mode, chain together Phoebe's Basic Attacks to upgrade and use her Heavy Attack: Starflash until she's out of Forte Gauge.
6 Take note of the decaying Frazzle stacks on the enemy to make sure that there is still a stack every time Phoebe does her combo. If there are no stacks, quick-swap to Rover and use their skill to top up the Frazzle stacks.
7 Switch back to Chisa once her Intro is available. Repeat until all enemies are defeated.

General Rotation

1 Begin combat with Zani and build up her Redundant Energy via her Basic Attacks. This will help her succeed in rotations later on.
2 Have Chisa enter the field and build her Forte bar with her Basic Attacks. Once she performs Death Snip, cast her Liberation to deal good damage, enhance her Sawring attacks, and fill her Forte bar.
3 With her Forte full, cast her enhanced Resonance Skill to enter Chainsaw Mode. Then, hold her attack button to perform her full Sawring attack string and end her rotation.
4 Switch to Phoebe and enter Confession Mode to stack Spectro Frazzle stacks. Her ideal combo is to perform two Heavy Attacks and her Resonance Liberation. Once Concerto is full, switch to Zani.
5 Have Zani enter via her Intro Skill to get a Spectro DMG Bonus. Then, with her Redundant Energy full, cast her transformed Resonance Skill to enter Sunburst Mode and gain 20% Spectro Frazzle DMG amplification.
6 Next, cast Resonance Liberation enter her Inferno Mode.
7 In Inferno Mode, do two sets of Heavy Slash combos to deplete her Blaze stacks. Each Blaze stack increases her DMG multipliers.
8 Once her Blaze stacks are depleted, you will be primed to use her second Liberation. Cast it to deal big damage against enemies.
9 Repeat until all enemies are defeated.

How to Play Chisa

Chisa Gameplay Guide

Chisa Gameplay Loop Summary

Have Chisa enter the field and use her Intro or Resonance Skill as the opener. Then, do a full Basic Attack string until her Forte gauge is up to 60% full.
Next, cast Liberation to enhance the DMG multipliers of her Sawring attacks and fill her Forte to max.

Chisa's Resonance Liberation will buff her Chainsaw Mode attacks, so always use it before transforming.
At this point, her Enhanced Resonance Skill is going to be available so cast her Resonance Skill again and enter Chainsaw Mode.
During Chainsaw Mode, hold the attack button until her entire Sawring string is complete and her Forte depleted. You can then Outro to the next Resonator.

Tip: You can switch characters before the final, chainsaw downward slam is finished to save time. It should continue with the animation even after switching.

Reduce DEF with Havoc Bane and Thread of Bane

Unseen Snare Primary way for Chisa to apply Havoc Bane. When targets marked by Unseen Snare take direct damage, she applies Havoc Bane every 2s.
How to Inflict Unseen Snare:
・Attack with Resonance Skill
・Attack after Serrated Loop
・Attack with Dodge Counter - Eye of Unraveling: Retraction
・Lock on to a target
Thread of Bane ・Ignore 18% DEF for enemies affected by Unseen Snare
Havoc Bane ・While Havoc Bane lasts, the DEF of the inflicted target is reduced.
・Havoc Bane stacks up to 3 times by default, with each stack reducing the target's DEF by 2%.

One of Chisa's main value propositions is her ability to reduce the DEF of enemies on the field. This is both attained through the Negative Status, Havoc Bane, and her Forte, Thread of Bane.

Reducing DEF means you can deal more damage to enemies, which she can pass on to other Resonators as long as they can trigger it by inflicting Negative Statuses or dealing Negative Status DMG.

Havoc Bane Explained

Pull Nearby Enemies with Resonance Skill

Chisa's Resonance Skill allows her to stagnate enemies in the area. Furthermore, this skill transforms into Serrated Loop at max Forte stacks, allowing her to pull nearby targets. This skill can be held, allowing her to deal continuous damage to enemies that are attached.

Glide Through the Air with Lifethread - Glide

Chisa can stay up in the air with Lifethread - Glide when she is not in Chainsaw Mode. During this time, she can use her weapon to pull enemies that are marked by Unseen Snare.

Build Up Ring of Chainsaw Forte with Attacks

Skill Used Points Generated
Normal Attack At least 5 points
(Depends on Stage)
Resonance Skill 5 points
Resonance Liberation 40 points
Intro Skill 20 points

Chisa's Forte gauge, Ring of Chainsaws, lets her enter Chainsaw Mode when it reaches 100 points. You can build this up effectively by following through Chisa's Basic Attacks up to Death Snip.

Heal the Team with Death Snip and Moment of Nihility

Chisa has multiple healing skills in her kit. Death Snip is her empowered Basic Attack finisher that deals AoE damage on top of healing the entire team.

Aside from this, her Liberation, Moment of Nihility, is one of her strong attacks and is also a massive healing ability. Both of these skills scale off her ATK stat.

Enter Chainsaw Mode with Enhanced Resonance Skill

Chisa can enter Chainsaw Mode via her Enhanced Resonance Skill, Serrated Loop. This becomes available when her Forte gauge is filled to 100 points.

Resonance Liberation Buffs Chainsaw Mode

Do note that using Chisa's Resonance Liberation buffs Chainsaw Mode, so always use Resonance Liberation before activating Chainsaw Mode. This is also the main reason why it is important to have enough Energy Regen so her Liberation is topped up before even entering Chainsaw Mode.

Chain Sawring Attacks Together

During Chainsaw Mode, Chisa can utilize a different moveset with her Sawring. Her attacks are a lot more potent and can be chained together by holding Heavy Attack. We recommend using this instead of pressing her attack button multiple times to fully consume her Ring of Chainsaw stacks.

Generate a Shield with Sawring Eradication

Sawring Eradication is Chisa's finisher move during Chainsaw Mode, providing a decent shield and dealing a lot of damage based on how much Ring of Chainsaw is consumed by her attacks.

Increase Max Negative Status Stack Count via Outro

Chisa's Outro Skill can increase the max stack count of any Negative Status Effect by 3. This works similarly to Rover (Aero)'s Outro for Aero Erosion, but is more universal. Do note that this is unstackable.

Negative Status Effects Explained

Chisa Recommended Combos

Chisa General Support Combo

Combo
Res. Skill → Echo Skill → BA (x3) → HA → Liberation → Res. Skill → HA (Until Forte is Depleted) → Outro

When Chisa is the initiator for combat, you can focus on using her full Basic Attack string up to Thread Withdrawn to quickly build up her Forte Bar. Then, cast her Liberation mid-animation of her Plunging attack.

With her Forte gauge full, press Resonance Skill to enter Chainsaw Mode and attack enemies with her Sawring skills, dealing a lot of damage in the process. Once she completes her Sawring attack string, you can exit out of the field with her Outro.

Chisa General Intro Combo

Combo
Intro → BA (x3) → Liberation → Res. Skill → HA (Until Forte is Depleted) → Echo Skill → Outro

Chisa has a faster combo with her Intro, either when she is not the first one to engage or for succeeding rotations. After entering the field, do three Basic Attacks up to Death Snip. Then, cast Liberation to maximize Sawring's DMG Multipliers.

Once her Forte is full, cast her Enhanced Resonance Skill to enter Chainsaw Mode. During this time, hold your attack button to complete her Sawring attack string. Afterwards, you can exit via her Outro onto the next Resonator.

Chisa Skill Priority and Forte List

Forte Tree Priority

Skill Priority Explanation
Normal Attack ★★★☆☆ Chisa will often be using her Normal attacks throughout her rotations. Though not her primary source of damage, this skill is still worth upgrading for better DPS.
Resonance Skill ★★☆☆☆ Her Resonance Skill doesn't deal that much damage. This skill is used more as a utility tool to pull enemies together. Upgrade this after her other skills.
Forte Circuit ★★★★★ Chisa's Forte is one of her primary skills to upgrade, as this contains her Chainsaw Mode attacks and shielding capabilities. Prioritize this first.
Resonance Liberation ★★★★★ Her Liberation is her strongest damaging ability and acts as a nuke, on top of being her primary source of healing. It also buffs her Chainsaw attacks, making it ideal to upgrade this alongside the Forte skill.
Intro Skill ☆☆☆☆ Her Intro Skill is quite lackluster due to having low damage. It also has no special effect that improves by upgrading it, as her buffs come from her Inherent Skill. Upgrade this last, if at all.

Chisa Resonance Chain

Recommended Sequence Nodes

Why We Recommend It
S1 ★★★☆☆ - Good
Chisa's S1 is nice to have since it provides additional DMG, gives her extra ATK, and provides her immunity to interruption. That said, it's quite limited by its own restrictions and is only really worth getting if you're aiming for her S2.
S2 ★★★★★ - Amazing
Her S2 drastically improves her supportive capabilities by providing additional buffs to other Resonators. This is a good stopping point for most players, as it increases her value as a sub-DPS and support a lot.
S3 ★★★★☆ - Great
S3 is worth considering getting if you want to have Chisa as a main DPS unit. This upgrade increases her main skills' DMG multipliers significantly, making her quite viable as the damage dealer in the team.
S4 ★★★☆☆ - Good
This node improves her Havoc Bane application by quite a lot, making her rotations a lot faster. Havoc Bane is quite limited due to being only able to stack every 2s, so this is a decent upgrade to the mechanic.
S5 ★★★☆☆ - Good
Her S5 improves her primary sources of damage even more by giving additional DMG while also allowing her to cast Lifethread - Glide more, essentially letting her do more Heavy Attacks.
S6 ★★★★★ - Amazing
Chisa's capstone sequence node is amazing since it provides a lot of benefits. She becomes able to tank fatal hits once and her Unseen Snare transforms into an enhanced version called Unseen Snare - Finality. This increases Negative Status DMG by 30% and her own DMG by 40%, making it significantly strong.

All Sequence Node Effects

S1 Wandering Through the Desolate Corridors
Chisa is immune to interruption during Sawring - Blitz, Sawring Eradication, and Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter.
Inflicting Unseen Snare grants the following additional effects:
- Chisa's ATK is increased by 30% for 15s.
- Deal fixed 61803 points of Havoc DMG. The target's HP can be reduced to 61.80% at most and each target can take this damage only once. This instance of damage is considered Basic Attack DMG that does not bear any effect from damage bonuses.
S2 Into the Web of Endless Bonds
Ignore 10% of the target's Havoc RES when dealing damage.
Nearby Resonators in the team with Thread of Bane gain 50% All-Attribute DMG Bonus.
S3 Across the Confusion of the Long Night
The DMG Multipliers of Sawring - Blitz, Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter and Sawring - Eradication are increased by 120%. This effect is mutually stackable with that of Woven Myriad - Convergence. The bonus DMG Multiplier for Sawring - Eradication granted by Sawring - Blitz and Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter when Ring of Chainsaw is consumed is increased by 120%. This effect is mutually stackable with that of Woven Myriad - Convergence.
The Vibration Strength Reduction Rate of Sawring - Blitz, Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter and Sawring - Eradication is increased by 50%.
S4 Severing the Endless Cycle of Tragic Fate
The effect of Unseen Snare becomes:
When targets marked by Unseen Snare take direct damage from Resonators, Chisa inflicts 1 stack of Havoc Bane on them. This effect is triggered up to once every 1s.
S5 Thousands of Lights to Guide the Way Home
Resonance Liberation Moment of Nihility gains 100% DMG Bonus. Lifethread Glide costs 50% less Lifethread - Jetstream.
S6 Thus, Hope is Rekindled with the Rising Dawn
When Chisa takes a fatal blow during Sawring - Blitz, Sawring - Eradication, and Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter, she will remain standing with at least 1 HP.
Unseen Snare becomes Unseen Snare - Finality, which has the following effects:
- Unseen Snare - Finality has all the effects of Unseen Snare.
- Targets affected by Unseen Snare - Finality takes 30% Amplified DMG from Negative Statuses.
- Targets affected by Unseen Snare - Finality takes 40% increased DMG from Chisa.

maybe she'll work well with some of the Startorch people?

86 Anonymous Anonymous 5 days

I wish one of her S made it possible for non-debuff characters to get thread of bane or something. Can't put her on a team with most of the characters she actually knows in the story because her kit flat out doesn't work if you don't meet the synergy check
