How to Unlock What Burns Beneath Frostlands
Complete When the Unknown Thrums
Players must first complete the Chapter 3 Prologue, When the Unknown Thrums, to unlock Chapter 3 Act 1. This serves as an overall introduction into the new region of Lahai-Roi.

What Burns Beneath Frostlands Quest Walkthrough
Follow Lynae into Startorch Academy
After arriving at the gates of Startorch Academy following the events of the Prologue, follow Lynae inside to be fully welcomed into the new region.
Activate Startorch Academy Resonance Nexus
Once she heads off on her own to lead you to the infirmary, register Rover's Terminal in the nearby Resonance Nexus!
See Chisa's Message in WavesLine
As Rover makes their way to the infirmary to get checked, Chisa messages them via the new WavesLine mechanic added to the game!

Get a Medical Examination at the Infirmary
Follow Lynae deeper into Startorch Academy to the Infirmary. It is not that far from where Rover is currently at.
Meet Up with Chisa
While on the way, players will have the option to meet up with Chisa after she sent a message earlier in WavesLine.
Enroll at the Faculty Office
After getting treated from the Voidworm fight, Rover meets Dr. Luuk Herssen and properly welcomes them into Startorch Academy as a freshman. Afterwards, leave the Infirmary and head on towards the faculty office for their proper enrollment.
Use the Velo Conduit
Make use of the Velo Conduit to get to places faster, like the elevator needed to get to the higher floors of Startorch Academy. Using it for the first time unlocks the trophy Become the Light.
Register Rover's Personal Information
After confirming Rover's enrollment into Startorch Academy, they must then input their personal information. Players can get to choose what the final input of information is here!
Just keep in mind that along with your current player name and set birthday, you cannot change information that you choose here afterwards.
Choose Rover's Contact Address
Players have four choices to use as Rover's contact address. These choices are all available, regardless of your progress of their respective regions, so choose your favorite among them!

Choose a Pose for Rover
As Lynae takes Rover's photo for their Student ID, they have a choice between four poses. These poses will remain the same whenever you choose to swap their gender!

Head to Auto Parking & Engineering Xpertise
With Rover having their Student ID Card, Lynae then leads them to the Auto Parking & Engineering Xpertise hub. This is where the Expedition Motorcycle Utility finally unlocks, allowing Rover to ride on an academy-issued vehicle!
How to Unlock Expedition Motorcycle
Head to the Research Institute
Now that Rover has their motorcycle, accompany Lynae across Lahai-Roi en route to the Research Institute.
First Part of Ride Cannot be Skipped
Players cannot skip the first automatic riding section of the road trip. Attempting to exit it will lead back to the starting point of the Auto Parking & Engineering Xpertise shop.
Avoid the Obstacles Inside the Tunnel!
After a pit stop mid-way the trip, Lynae and Rover will go through a tunnel full of obstacles. Maneuver with the motorcycle to avoid taking damage from the obstacles!
Take the Startorch Express
Once arriving at the train station that leads to the Research Institute, take a seat at a nearby bench and wait for the Startorch Express to arrive. A cutscene will then play to lead Rover there.
Read Lynae's WavesLine Message
Once arriving at the Research Institute, Lynae will messave Rover via WavesLine. Do this to progress further.
Meet Mornye near Cassette Depository
After talking to a nearby researcher on where to go next for Rover's Cassette, follow their instructions and quest marker to head into the Cassette Depository. This is where Rover will get to meet Professor Mornye.
Head to the Artifical Sun Lab
After Mornye helps with giving Rover their very own Frequency Cassette Recorder, a commotion in the Artificial Sun Lab brings them both to the location. After checking a few things within the lab, Rover decides to head back, but an alarm signal begins to blare.
Eliminate the Contaminated Exoswarm
During the chaos, the POV will switch from Rover to Lynae somewhere in Lahai-Roi. Defeat all the contaminated Exoswarm that are attacking Lynae.
This part of the Main Quest acts as a trial to use Lynae, so players can get a feel of how she plays.
Fighting More Contaminated Exoswarm is Optional
Players only need to fight the first set of contaminated Exoswarms. If they wish, they can keep fighting the other waves of monsters to practice using Lynae.
Stop the Out-of-Control Hyvatia
Getting to the designated area, Lynae must defeat the Hyvatia that went out of control thanks to an outside source, with the help of Havoc Rover.

Do Not Dodge or Counterattack while Hyvatia Uses Eye of Prediction
One thing that the game warns players of is its Eye of Prediction. Dodging or parrying its attack while Hyvatia has this active will only result an extremely powerful special attack that cannot be avoided, blocked or parried. It is guaranteed to deal enough damage to leave the current on-field Resonator at 1 HP.
Investigate the Department of Engineering
After an interrogation from the faculty, Lynae tells Rover about her backstory and plans to keep the Fractsidus at bay, who are in Lahai-Roi for some reason. They set out to the Department of Engineering to tinker with a device left by the Fractsidus that caused Hyvatia to go berserk.
Stop the Out-of-Control Exostrider Mechs
While modifying the device, the nearby Exostrider mechs get corrupted themselves. Defeat them all to progress the story.
Find Information About the Void Storm
Head into the Spacetrek Archive afterwards to look for information about the frequency found within the device. There are two locations within the Archive Rover has to find first before reporting back to Lynae.
Find Luuk Herssen in the Infirmary
Once Lynae gets called for further interrogation, go to the Infirmary again to meet up with Dr. Luuk Herssen.
Wait for Lynae in her Dorm
After telling Dr. Luuk about the situation, head on over to the Dorm and talk to the receptionist to find out where Lynae is staying. Head to the stairs to the left, and her room can be found on the first door to the right.
Defeat the Voidworm
Lynae leaves after being expelled due to her name being tied to criminal records. However, the Voidworm attacks Startorch Academy, and both Lynae and Rover lure it away from campus grounds.
This leads to Rover activating the Defense Array manually on the first location. To buy time, Lynae must defeat the Voidworm momentarily.
Collect Voidmatter Orbs to Charge Energy Pulse
On occasion, the Voidworm will drop Voidmatter Orbs all across the battlefield. Collect them to charge the Energy Pulse equipped to Lynae's motorcycle.
Fire Energy Pulse when Prompted
Once Lynae manages to collect enough Voidmatter Orbs to fill the gauge, wait for the Voidworm to appear with a parry ring quick-time event. Trigger the QTE properly to deal damage.
Activate the Last Defense Array
After lowering the Voidworm's HP enough, the POV then shifts back to Rover. Steer their motorcycle away from obstacles and projectiles to make it to the final Defense Array.
Use Cover to Dodge the Attack
With all three Defense Arrays active, the Voidworm is now throwing desperation attacks. Get closer to the monster, while finding cover to avoid damage from its beam attack.
Attack the Voidworm's Weak Spot
Once close enough, fire energy attacks on the Voidworm's weak spot when the green crosshair target appears.
Climb on the Voidworm's Back!
To finish the boss fight, climb onto the Voidworm's back using the Grappling Hook when the prompt becomes available! Once this is done, the Quest is officially finished!
Read Lynae's WavesLine Message
As part of the after mission interaction, Lynae has a message for Rover in WavesLine. Make sure to check this out, as this rewards players with a free Livery set for their own motorcycle!
Pass 2 Days to the Exact Time You Cleared the Quest Using In-Game Clock
Lynae will check up on Rover after two days in-game. Players can use the clock mechanic to fast forward time by 2 days, but it has to be 2 days to the exact hour and minute of when Lynae's message in WavesLine was read.
Head to the Garden
Afterwards, head to the Garden to find Lynae to check up on her after the events of the Quest. Doing this properly finishes the main quest line of Chapter 3 Act 1: What Burns Beneath Frostlands.
