Deploy Combat Machines and Survive Waves of TDs
In Tidal Defense Simulator, your objective is to defend a target from incoming waves of TDs in a gameplay style reminiscent of classic Tower Defense games.
To succeed, you’ll need to strategically deploy Combat Machines along the walls, floors, and ceilings of the defense area, ensuring they intercept and eliminate TDs before they reach the safe zone. Note that you cannot use Resonator skills in this game mode - you will have to rely on the defense machines provided in the game mode.
Choose Machines in Prep Mode
First of all, choose the machines you want to use in the stage. Take note of the terrain and the mounting requirements of the stage.
For example, wall-mounted machines need an actual wall to be deployed, and a ceiling-mounted machine needs a flat ceiling to hold them up. In addition, check for any hazards in the stage that you can use to your advantage by deploying pusher-type machines.
Prep Machines and Set Them Up Before a Wave
After choosing the machines, make sure to prep them within the stage. In general, you'd want to set up machines in choke points so you cover multiple paths if they exist. Also, check the hologram preview of the TDs path so you know if the machine will be able to hit the TDs properly.
Though it is recommended to setup machines before any wave, you can also do so while a wave is ongoing as long as you have enough Sim Credits.
Refund Machines for Full Price
In case you've mistakenly deployed a machine in the wrong spot, do not be afraid to refund them because they are refunded at full price. Note that you cannot refund while a wave is active, but you can put more machines if you have enough points.
Gain Sim Credits Within a Wave
Players get Sim Credits, the currency used to deploy machines, after defeating a TD. This means you can gain enough within each wave to deploy additional machines. Adjust accordingly, especially if the preparation phase proved to be lacking.
Check The Star Requirements of Each Stage
Each stage can be finished with up to 3-star ratings, but note that you don't have to perfect each stage to get the full 3-star rating. You can leak enemies up to the noted durability and still get the full rating.
Elite and Dangerous Enemies Deal More Damage

Note that enemies will deal different amounts of damage to the durability of the Energy Matrix. Standard Tacet Discords will deal 1 DMG, Elites will deal 5 DMG, and Dangerous TDs can deal a whopping 10 DMG. Make sure you are aware of this and manage your durability properly.
You May Use KU-Roro Weapons to Deal Damage
In addition to the traps you lay on the path, you may also equip KU-Roro weapons that you can use to deal direct damage to an enemy or push them away.. This is mostly the only thing you have absolute control in, so use it while the wave is active.
Consider the Map Layout
Pay close attention to the enemy spawn points and the routes they follow, as these are key to deciding which Combat Machines to deploy and where to place them. A preview of the waves' path is shown in the Preparation Phase so you can plan accordingly.
Always Progress the Overwatch Protocol Tree
To help with your defenses, make sure to activate nodes on the Overwatch Protocols tree. These will serve as permanent buffs that will aid in your progression of the event's many stages.
The points used to progress the Overwatch Protocol Tree is obtained by clearing stages in the game mode. The key is to not forget to get these passives as soon as you have the point to unlock them.
Revisit Previous Stages After Upgrading
If you have earlier stages that you are having trouble with, you can opt to return to past stages when you have better passives from Overwatch Protocol tree or upgraded Machines. These upgrades may be the difference between a 2-star or a 3-star clear in most cases!
Upgrade Your Machines!
Later into the stages, machines can be upgraded to up to Level 3 using Sim Ingots. Upgrading machines will mostly unlock modules and increase their overall performance making it easier for you to clear waves of TDs in stages.
Challenge Tougher Modes
After completing the blue Pass Guardian stages, Deathtrap Mode will unlock. This mode hosts tougher enemies and varied layouts to test out the limits of your defensive capabilities! Use everything you've learned from Pass Guardian and show these TDs who's boss!
