| Strengths | |||
|---|---|---|---|
|
• Premier Tune Strain DPS scaling off Basic Attack DMG. • Mainly revolves around aerial attacks, providing decent coverage against bosses and enemies. • Fairly simple playstyle. He is a general DPS unit with additional Tune Strain mechanic boosts. • Shines the most the longer fights progress. Great with bosses. • High base stats, making building him a lot easier. |
|||
| Weaknesses | |||
|
• Performance drops significantly without Lynae and Mornye, who can stack Tune Strain with him. • Requires a decent amount of time for his rotations. • Needs proper STA management due to his kit revolving around aerial attacks. • Susceptible to being interrupted, being mostly airborne throughout his on-field time. • Suffers with AoE-focused, wave-based content. |
Luuk Herssen is the premier Tune Strain DPS released in Version 3.1, and is a strong one to boot. He provides great numbers damage-wise thanks to his scaling, and his base stats are quite high. As a DPS, he is quite straightforward to play but may require some management for his STA.
As a playable character, Luuk Herssen is a standard DPS able to deal a lot of damage during his on-field time. His playstyle mainly revolves around floating in the air and casting his enhanced Resonance Skills, all of which are affected by Tune Strain.
Tune Break: Tune Strain vs Tune Rupture
Luuk Herssen is a great investment and is a considerable Spectro DPS unit for most players. Although not necessarily a must pull, Luuk performs well in prolonged fights against bosses like in the Doubled Pawns Matrix endgame content.
Luuk in the Meta enables Tune Strain as a powerful team comp, although it's currently lacking a dedicated Tune Strain Basic Attack DMG buffer for him. Additionally, he also benefits a lot with higher investments in his Resonance Chain, as you will see significant increases in his damage with S2, S3, and S6, although his initial S0 is already great for most players!
Newer players will benefit a lot from rerolling Luuk Herssen, as he is a general DPS unit who performs well even with free characters. He can also use a multitude of weapons, making building him convenient.

Luuk Herssen is a simple and general DPS to play, despite revolving around Tune Strain as his featured mechanic. You'll mostly want to build on his strong suits by focusing on Spectro DMG, ATK%, and Crit. stats, whenever possible.
For substats, the best rolls to aim for are Basic Attack DMG, additional Crit. stats, and ATK%. Also, ensure that Luuk can get at least 120% Energy Regen so that he can cast his Resonance Liberation every rotation.
| Main Echo | Explanation |
|---|---|
|
|
・The best Echo for Luuk Herssen since it gives him a passive increase to Spectro DMG and Basic Attack DMG. ・While it's a Transform-type Echo, it doesn't really deal much damage on its own. You mainly want to use this for its passive. ・If you have Twin Nova - Collapsar Blade equipped in another slot, the Echo Skills combine and deal more damage. |
|
|
・Second best option for Luuk. Best choice if you're using the Celestial Light set. ・Gives an additional Spectro DMG and Resonance Liberation DMG bonus by simply equipping it. ・Transform-type Echo, so you will have to weave it into your combos. |
|
|
・Can be a situational choice for Luuk if you want to buff the next ally's damage. ・This is often worse than his two best echo options, but is viable if you're running another damage dealer on the team. |
| Echo Set | Rating |

(5-pc) |
★★★ - Best This is the best set to use on Luuk Herssen for the stats it provides. He primarily scales off Spectro DMG and Basic Attack DMG, which he can maximize with his kit. The Echo, Twin Nova - Nebulous Cannon, further enhances this effect by simply having Luuk equip it in the main slot. Recommended Main Echo: |
|
(5-pc) |
★★☆ - 2nd Best This secondary set is quite viable on Luuk Herssen, as it provides a decent increase in Spectro DMG, similar to his best set. However, unlike his best-in-slot set, it doesn't provide a boost to Basic Attack DMG. You can use this early on, but make sure to replace it later on. Recommended Main Echo: |

| 6 |
|
Intergalactic Gaze Casting the Resonance Skill grants 6 Resonance Energy and increases ATK by 10% lasting for 16s. This effect can be triggered once every 20s. |
Luuk Herssen can pick up a variety of weapons with decent performance, as he isn't necessarily tied to his signature weapon, Daybreaker's Spine. While it does provide a lot of buffs to his DMG, the 3.0 standard weapon, Pulsation Bracer, fits just fine and is recommended for most players.
Alternatively, you can use the 5-star weapons, Blazing Justice, which he can still utilize thanks to the DEF shred it gives against enemies, and Abyss Surges, for the high ATK and ER it provides alongside Basic Attack DMG Bonus. 4-star options are viable, but will perform significantly worse due to their low base stats.

| * Lynae must be set to Tune Strain Mode in the Character Skills menu. | |
Luuk Herssen's current best team consists of Lynae and Mornye, as having all three together increases the stack limit of Tune Strain, ensuring that Luuk deals as much damage as possible.
Aside from the Tune Strain mechanic, Lynae and Mornye are also the current two best buffers for Luuk with their buffs to Tune Break Boost and Off-Tune Buildup Rate, respectively. Additionally, they provide Luuk All DMG Amplification, making his attacks hit a lot harder.
| 1 | Start with Mornye and do three Basic Attacks to fill her Forte. Then, cast her Heavy Attack to enter Wide Field Observation Mode. |
|---|---|
| 2 | In the air, do three Basic Attacks followed by her Resonance Skill. During the Resonance Skill's animation, cancel its endlag with her Liberation, generating High Syntony Field in the process. |
| 3 | Once High Syntony Field is deployed, cast her enhanced Heavy Attack and switch to Lynae via Outro Skill. |
| 4 | As Lynae enters the field via Intro, immediately cast her Resonance Skill to gain max Overflow. |
| 5 | Then, use Liberation to generate a team-wide DMG buff followed by her Basic Attack immediately after. |
| 6 | With Overflow full, hold her Heavy Attack until her Lumiflow Forte gauge reaches max stacks. Then, let go to deal damage and enter Kaleidoscopic Parade. |
| 7 | In this state, do three jumps for her Polychrome Leaps, which will generate three True Color stacks. |
| 8 | With three stacks, do a plunging attack to deal big damage, then switch out to Luuk Herssen. |
| 9 | Upon entering the field via Intro, Luuk Herssen gains max Ichor Flow with his Intro Skill and Forte Circuit passive. From here, press Jump twice to attack using Scythe: Resection. |
| 10 | Once available, cast his enhanced Resonance Skill, followed by two Basic Attacks and two Jumps in order. Do this two times. |
| 11 | After the second Basic Attack string, cast his third enhanced Resonance Skill, deploying an Ichor Deposit on the ground. Follow this up with a Basic Attack to plunge and detonate the Deposit. |
| 12 | With all three enhanced Resonance Skills cast and the icon glowing, perform his Liberation to deal massive damage before switching to Mornye via Outro. |
| 13 | Repeat until all enemies are defeated. |

| Character | Explanation |
|---|---|
| | Sanhua Replacement Roccia can fit in this team as a replacement for Sanhua, similarly buffing Basic Attack DMG. She is, however, more suited towards Havoc teams, and her rotations can be quite slow. |
| | Mornye Replacement Shorekeeper is a great replacement for Mornye and can even be better in some situations where you would need more Crit stats. |
You can play Luuk Herssen as a hypercarry Spectro unit by focusing on buffing his Basic Attack DMG and Spectro DMG. Sanhua is amazing for this, as she significantly amplifies Basic Attack DMG with her Outro Skill despite having such short on-field time.
Meanwhile, Mornye is the best support unit for Luuk Herssen, given that both of these units respond to Tune Strain - Interfered. On top of this, she boosts the Off-Tune Buildup Rate of allies and amplifies All DMG types significantly.
| 1 | Begin combat with Mornye and do three Basic Attacks to fill her Rest Mass Energy. Then, cast her Heavy Attack to enter Wide Field Observation Mode. |
|---|---|
| 2 | While airborne, perform three Basic Attacks followed by her Resonance Skill. During the Resonance Skill's animation, cancel its endlag with her Liberation, generating High Syntony Field in the process. |
| 3 | Once High Syntony Field is deployed, cast her enhanced Heavy Attack and switch to Sanhua via Outro Skill. |
| 4 | As Sanhua, cast her Resonance Skill and Liberation consecutively. Once all Ice Structures are deployed, use Heavy Attack: Detonate to blow them all up, filling her Concerto Energy gauge. Switch to Luuk Herssen using Outro Skill. |
| 5 | Upon entering the field via Intro, Luuk Herssen gains max Ichor Flow with his Intro Skill and Forte Circuit passive. From here, press Jump twice to perform his mid-air Scythe attacks. |
| 6 | Once available, cast his enhanced Resonance Skill, followed by two Basic Attacks and two Jumps in order. Do this two times. |
| 7 | After the second Basic Attack string, cast his third enhanced Resonance Skill, deploying an Ichor Deposit on the ground. Follow this up with a Basic Attack to plunge and detonate the Deposit. |
| 8 | With all three enhanced Resonance Skills cast and the icon glowing, perform his Liberation to deal massive damage before switching to Mornye via Outro. |
| 9 | Repeat until all enemies are defeated. |

| ③ | Afterwards, cast Luuk's third enhanced Resonance Skill, followed by a Basic Attack to plunge into the ground and destroy his Ichor Deposit. |

| Tune Strain | Shifting: A debuff inflicted on an enemy. Changes into Interfered after casting Tune Break. Interfered: If the Resonator can respond to Tune Strain, each point of Tune Break Boost gives a DMG increase of 0.12%. (Per Tune Strain stack) |
|---|---|
| Uncaused Diagnosis (Inherent Skill) |
Every 10 points of Tune Break Boost amplifies Luuk Herssen's skill's instance of DMG by 5%, up to 30%. Luuk gains 25% ATK for 20s when Tune Break is dealt, or Tune Shifting is inflicted. |

| Intro Skill | 1 |
| Jump Mid-air Attack | 1 |
| Resonance Skills | 1 (Per Charge) |
| Tune Break | Up to 2 (With Perpetuating Daytime) |
Luuk Herssen's kit involves him inflicting Tune Strain - Shifting onto enemies. Most of his skills can generate and stack this debuff on targets, letting him deal as much damage as possible.
Make sure to select team members that respond to Tune Strain, as Tune Strain stacks work on top of each other, increasing DMG multipliers significantly!

| Ichor Flow |
Stacks up to 300 points. Earned via the following skills: • Normal Attacks • Resonance Skill, Golden Reflux • Resonance Skill, Aureole of Execution • Basic Attack, Golden Impale • Mid-air Attack Gavel of Earthshaker If Intro Skill is cast, gain 300 points of Ichor Flow with Golden Rule. |
|---|---|
| Aureate Judge | Available once Ichor Flow reaches 300 points. Ends after all points are depleted. Luuk gains the following effects: • Aureole of Execution's DMG Multipliers increase by 110%. • Mid-air Attack - Gavel of Earthshaker's DMG Multiplier increases by 110%. • Ichor Deposit's DMG Multiplier increases by 110%. Each cast of Aureole of Execution costs 100 Ichor Flow. |
Luuk Herssen's Forte gauge, Ichor Flow, is filled by performing his Basic Attacks and Resonance Skills. Once full, Luuk enters the Aureate Judge state, increasing the damage of his enhanced Resonance Skills, Aureole of Execution, and Mid-air Attack, Gavel of Earthshaker.
| Luuk Herssen Mid-Air Attacks | |
|---|---|
Dissection (Basic Attack) |
Resection (Jump) |
Luuk's playstyle mostly involves him fighting enemies in the air. During this time, his attacks change quite a bit and vary based on your inputs. You can press Jump or Basic Attack to deal damage to enemies after the first Mid-air Attack.
In general, pressing Jump is a lot better for more damage, and it inflicts Tune Strain - Shifting in the process.

One of the primary mechanics that Luuk Herssen has is his mid-air Resonance Skills. While Luuk is up in the air and casts Basic Attack Stage 4 or Mid-air Attack Stage 3, his enhanced Resonance Skill, Aureole of Execution, becomes available.
Aureole of Execution has three forms and changes for each cast, up to three times. Additionally, each cast lets Luuk gain 1 stack of Endnotes on the Endgame
| Ichor Blade | Ichor Deposit |
|---|---|
| Deals a fixed amount of damage, hurled out via the following skills: • Intro Skill • Resonance Skill - Aureole of Execution: Breach • Mid-air Dodge. Disappears after a damaging skill is cast or if Luuk Herssen exits the field. |
Deals damage scaling off his Resonance Skill. Deployed via the following skill: • Resonance Skill - Aureole of Execution: Glare. Automatically detonates after 5s. |
A part of Luuk Herssen's unique mechanics is his Ichor deployment. Using certain skills, Luuk will hurl out an Ichor Blade on the field, which detonates immediately after a damaging ability is used.
The biggest damage from this mechanic, however, comes from the Ichor Deposit, deployed after Luuk casts his third enhanced mid-air attack. This Ichor Deposit, when detonated, deals decent Basic Attack DMG, scaling off his Resonance Skill.
| Mid-air Attack - Gavel of Earthshaker | • Becomes available after an Ichor Deposit is deployed. • Becomes unavailable if Resonance Liberation is cast or if Luuk Herssen exits the field. |
|---|
After Luuk Herssen performs his third enhanced mid-air Resonance Skill, an Ichor Deposit is deployed on the ground. After it is deployed, you can do a mid-air attack called Gavel of Earthshaker, which causes Luuk Herssen to plunge and detonate the Ichor Deposit. This skill deals a decent amount of damage, so make sure to do it per rotation!

| Endnotes on the Endgame (Resonance Skill Passive) |
Increases the Resonance Liberation DMG Multiplier by 25% per enhanced Resonance Skill, up to 3 times. |
|---|---|
Luuk Herssen's Resonance Liberation, Rewritten in Winter's Margins, is a simple damaging skill that gets stronger each time you cast his enhanced mid-air Resonance Skills, Aureole of Execution. It is best used last in the rotation to maximize its damage.

|
| Endnotes on Endgame | Increases the DMG Multiplier of Resonance Liberation by 25% per stack, up to 3 stacks. Get stacks from enhanced Resonance Skills. |
|---|---|
Ideally, you want to cast Luuk Herssen's Resonance Liberation at the end of each rotation to maximize its damage. For each cast of his Enhanced Resonance Skills, Aureole of Execution, you get 1 stack of Endnotes of Endgame.
Each stack buffs the instance of DMG from his Resonance Liberation significantly, so ensure to have them available!

| * Twin Nova - Nebulous Cannon is a Transform-type Echo that you can weave in the combo for added damage. |
The Jump inputs in the sequence can be replaced with Basic Attacks, albeit with less damage.
You ideally want Luuk Herssen to enter combat via his Intro skill as much as possible to avoid DPS loss. If he performs his Intro, 300 Ichor Flow points are automatically gained, allowing him to enter the air as quickly as possible.
To start the combo, use Jump twice to perform his Resection attacks. Then, cast his enhanced Resonance Skill, followed by two Mid-air Attacks and two Jump attacks. Repeat this two times.
After the last Mid-air attack string, cast Luuk's third enhanced Resonance Skill and do a plunging attack after to detonate his deployed Ichor Deposit. Lastly, cast Resonance Liberation once it's glowing and has three stacks for huge Basic Attack DMG, before exiting the field via his Outro.

| Skill | Priority | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Attack | ★★★☆☆ | Luuk's normal attacks provide a decent amount of damage share to his overall DPS, but shouldn't be the priority. Make sure to level up his other skills first without neglecting this ability. |
| Resonance Skill | ★★★★★ | This skill is one of Luuk's main priorities to upgrade, as most of his enhanced aerial attacks scale off it. You want to upgrade this alongside his Resonance Liberation first. |
| Forte Circuit | ★★★★☆ | After upgrading Resonance Skill and Liberation, you'll want to prioritize this next, as this is his next strongest DMG ability. If possible, you can balance the three together, but ensure to level up his primary damage sources first. |
| Resonance Liberation | ★★★★★ | Luuk's Liberation is a simple, damaging skill, but it packs a lot of punch. You want to upgrade this first alongside his Resonance Skill for the best damage. |
| Intro Skill | ★★☆☆☆ | Lastly, you still want to upgrade Luuk's Intro Skill for the added damage. This isn't essentially that big of a priority, so you can level this up last. |
Focus on upgrading Luuk Herssen's main damage sources first, namely, his Resonance Skill and Resonance Liberation. Alongside these two, you'll want to put in points for his Forte Circuit followed by his Normal Attacks. Lastly, you can upgrade his Intro Skill for added damage.

| Why We Recommend It | |
|---|---|
| S1 | ★★★★☆ - Great This node makes Luuk Herssen a lot more comfortable to play in the air, as it provides additional interruption immunity with the extra Dawnlit Keep stacks. Without it, you can only get immunity to interruption 1 time per rotation, which is after his Intro Skill. Furthermore, his mid-air attacks increase in DMG, improving his overall DPS. |
| S2 | ★★★★★ - Amazing This is arguably one of the strongest upgrades you can get for Luuk, as it drastically increases his Resonance Liberation's instance of DMG and the buffs to his damage when responding to Tune Strain - Interfered from Inherent Skill 1 essentially double. You'll experience a big jump in damage when you have Luuk's S2. |
| S3 | ★★★★★ - Amazing Another strong upgrade to his kit, it increases one of his biggest sources of DMG, his multiple Aureole of Execution casts. Furthermore, his enhanced Plunging attack and Ichor Deposit are also buffed DMG-wise, making for a decent upgrade to DPS. However, the main value comes from the max stack limit of his Perpetuating Daytime being doubled. The Inherent Skill's boost gives a significant jump in DMG numbers and is a great stopping point for low spenders! |
| S4 | ★★☆☆☆ - Okay An overall decent upgrade to Luuk Herssen and the entire team with the additional 20% boost in DMG for 20s whenever Tune Break DMG is dealt. However, it provides minimal upgrades compared to some of his more groundbreaking sequences. |
| S5 | ★☆☆☆☆ - Mediocre Luuk's S1 provides him with additional DMG increases to Intro Skill, Outro Skill, and his standard Resonance Skill. It offers no significant upgrades and is not worth getting on its own. |
| S6 | ★★★★★ - Amazing Luuk's capstone node is an extremely strong upgrade to his kit, as it is effectively both his S2 and S3 combined but enhanced even further. Whenever Tune Break DMG is dealt, his enhanced Resonance Skills deal a lot more damage. Aside from this, his Liberation's DMG increases even more. Lastly, this sequence lets him increase the stack limit of Tune Strain - Interfered by 2, significantly boosting all Resonators who can respond to this debuff! |
| S1 | Gold Kindled in Ash Luuk Herssen gains 150% Mid-air Attack DMG Bonus. The max stack limit of Dawnlit Keep is increased by 1. When in the Aureate Judge state, casting Resonance Skill Aureole of Execution grants 1 stack of Dawnlit Keep. |
|---|---|
| S2 | Avalanche Roaring in Eyes The DMG Multiplier of Resonance Liberation Rewritten in Winter's Margins is increased by 60%. This DMG Multiplier increase effect is stackable with that of Endnotes on the Endgame. Inherent Skill Uncaused Diagnosis is enhanced: When Luuk Herssen deals damage to targets inflicted with Tune Strain - Interfered, every 10 points of Tune Break Boost he has now Amplify this instance of damage by 10%. This effect now increases the DMG Amplification up to 60% instead of 30%. |
| S3 | Spine Tempered by Golden Rain The DMG Multipliers of all forms of Resonance Skill Aureole of Execution are increased by 136% in the Aureate Judge state. Casting Aureole of Execution: Glare increases the DMG Multipliers of the next Mid-Attack - Gavel of Earthshaker and Ichor Deposit by 136%. Inherent Skill Pulses Under the Snow is enhanced: Perpetuating Daytime now stacks up to 4 times. |
| S4 | Pulse Thrumming Under Rime After a Resonator in the team deals Tune Break DMG, all Resonators in the team deal 20% more DMG for 20s. This effect is unstackable. |
| S5 | Through the Stillness of Snowstorm Intro Skill Before Injection of Dawn and Outro Skill Bow to the Last Light gain 80% DMG Bonus. Resonance Skill Golden Reflux has its DMG Multiplier increased by 50% and Cooldown reduced by 2s, and gains 1 more charge. |
| S6 | Dawn Unfurling over Frostlands When nearby Resonators in the team deal Tune Break DMG, all forms of Resonance Skill Aureole of Execution, Ichor Deposit, and Mid-air Attack - Gavel of Earthshaker deal 30% more DMG to the target for 25s. Each stack of Endnotes on the Endgame additionally grants Resonance Liberation Rewritten in Winter's Margins 40% DMG Bonus, up to 120%. When Luuk Herssen deals damage to targets inflicted with Tune Strain - Interfered, the stack count of Tune Strain - Interfered on the target is increased by 2. This effect ignores the max stack limit. |
