How to Create Builds

Learn Your Character's Role

The main thing that you should consider first when building a character is to identify their role in your 3-character team. There are three roles that a character can fill: Main DPS, Sub DPS, or Support each with its advantages and disadvantages when put in a team.

To know the character's role, you must check their fortes or skills and see if they are there to deal damage, support other characters, or a mix of both!

Based on the role above, choose the sonata effect that will benefit their role and playstyle. Each sonata effect provides benefits that can make or break your character's efficacy in battle. We can even argue that the chosen sonata effect dictates how good your character will be.

Learn Which Stat to Prioritize

When building characters, it is also important to know the stats that you should prioritize. Each echo can possess innate benefits that can augment your character's stats. You can also opt to tune echoes to add more stats and improve your character's overall performance.

For example, a character that relies heavily on their Resonance Liberation will need a good amount of Energy Regen so they can use their Resonance Liberation more. Second, mostly all Main DPS characters will need Crit DMG and Crit Rate so the damage they deal can increase. Some characters even scale off HP so aim to improve on that.
How to Tune Echoes

Check Weapon Effect and Substats

Each weapon in Wuthering Waves has innate main stat, substat, and effect that you should consider when building characters.

First, consider what stat needs to be prioritized based on the previous section and check the weapon's substat if it fills that need. Then, you should check the weapon's effect to see if it works with the character's role and playstyle. Perfecting this is the key to making great builds in Wuthering Waves.
