Aemeath and Luuk Herssen are the new characters for Version 3.1, with Aemeath being featured in Phase 1 on February 5, 2026, and Luuk Herssen for Phase 2 on February 26, 2026.

In November 26, 2025, Wuthering Waves teased a bunch of new characters that are slated to release throughout Version 3.x! So far, only Lucilla has no drip marketing so expect her to release a bit later into the patch cycle.

As of the Version 3.1 Livestream, there are currently 44 playable characters. Specifically there are 34 playable female characters, and 10 playable male characters.
This doesn't include Rover which can either be male or female based on your choice. If we include their three forms, the number of unique playable characters with their own kits rise up to 47.

Raise Character Level Cap
Gathering and consuming ascension materials is the only way to raise your character's level cap and make them stronger. Make sure to meet the world level requirements and gather all of the necessary materials to enhance your Resonators!

How to Get Characters
Summon From Convene Banners
The primary way to obtain Resonators in Wuthering Waves, especially the 5-stars, is to summon them through the Convene banners using a premium currency called Astrite.
With Wuthering Wave's pity system, you are guaranteed to pull a 5-star Resonator from a Character Covene banner after 80 pulls.

Obtain Free Characters from Events
Certain 4-star Resonators can be obtained for free from events in Wuthering Waves. For example, you can get a free copy of Sanhua in the login event called Gifts of Thawing Frost.
