Wuthering Waves 2.8 was released on November 20, 2025. This update introduces a new character, Chisa, who looks to be from a different land away from Rinascita.
Version 2.8 also has a brand new area called, Chronorift Metropolis, which is set in Honami City.

Four limited 5-star characters are set to have their own banners in Version 2.8! Chisa has now made her debut in Phase 1 alongside Phoebe, running from November 20, 2025 until December 11, 2025.
From December 11, Phrolova and Cantarella will make their return in the second phase in a shorter banner cycle until December 24, 2025.

Kumokiri (Broadblade)
Kumokiri is a 5-star Broadblade and is Chisa's signature weapon. It has its own banner currently available this Phase 1 of 2.8 alongside Chisa herself.

New Zani Skin
Zani has received a new skin called Downtown Repose in Version 2.8. This alternate outfit has her wearing a knitted beige cotton sweater, showcasing a chic yet functional winter ensemble perfect for her long overdue vacation.

Chapter 2 Act 12 - Stagnant Dawn on Wastelands
A new Main Quest, Stagnant Dawn on Wastelands, is now available for players to experience. This Quest is an introduction to the Chronorift Metropolis Sonoro Sphere and Chisa.

Chapter 2 Segue - Flowing Starlight in the Iris
A Segue story in Version 2.8 is available called Flowing Starlight in the Iris. This is a short story for players to get to know Chisa even more while exploring the Metropolis.

Chronorift Metropolis (Honami City)
Chronorift Metropolis is shown to be a Sonoro Sphere and is the featured area of Version 2.8.
This Sonoro Sphere showcases Honami City, a city reminiscent of Tokyo, Japan and is a land trapped in time with life repeating over and over for its inhabitants.

Thread of Severed Fate is a Havoc-centric Echo set that focuses on the Negative Status effect, Havoc Bane, to improve the user's damage. This debuff reduces enemies' DEF stats significantly, making them take a lot more damage.
2.8 New Boss
Tactical Hologram: The False Sovereign
Version 2.8 introduces a new addition to the Tactical Hologram boss lineup with The False Sovereign. Players can challenge this boss in increasing difficulties with more challenging mechanics.

| Lollo Campaign: Rising Anew |
A new iteration of Lollo Campaign will become available. Players will be able to play Maji's new twist on the event and get items from various lottery tickets. |
| Whispers of the Waves |
This is a photo event of Honami City that lets you earn Astrites while collecting memories of the Metropolis. |
| Search for It! Bits of Lahai-Roi! |
Items from Lahai-Roi will be popping up in Honami City during the event. This introduces what is likely to be the next region for the game, similar to Ragunna Sales Blitz in 1.4. |

Adjustments to Negative Status Effects

 Havoc Bane |
Old Effect ・Havoc Bane accumulates stacks automatically while it remains active. ・Once it reaches its maximum stacks, it deals Havoc DMG to the target, removes Havoc Bane, and applies Havoc Bane to nearby characters. Only certain Havoc attacks will inflict Havoc Bane on enemies. |
| New Effect ・ Some Havoc attacks will apply a stackable Havoc Bane effect to the target. ・While Havoc Bane lasts, the DEF of the inflicted target is reduced. Havoc Bane stacks up to 3 times by default, with each stack reducing the target's DEF by 2%. |

 Fusion Burst |
Old Effect ・Once Fusion Burst hits its max stacks, it ignites and removes the stacks, dealing Fusion DMG. Only certain Fusion attacks will inflict stackable Fusion Burst on enemies. |

Old Effect ・While Electro Flare is active, it weakens the target's ATK, with more stacks further reducing their strength. Only certain Electro attacks will inflict stackable Electro Flare on enemies. |

The target loses half of the effects stacks with each instance of damage. ・Electro Flare stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG dealt. At maximum stacks, of Electro Flare, any new stack inflicted becomes stackable Electro Rage. ・Electro Rage increases the DMG dealt by the next Electro Flare trigger.  Glacio Chafe |
Old Effect ・As Glacio Chafe stacks increase, the target's speed gradually decreases. ・Upon reaching max stacks, the target is frozen, and the stacks of Glacio Chafe are removed. Only certain Glacio attacks will inflict stackable Glacio Chafe on enemies. |
| New Effect ・Some Glacio attacks will apply a stackable Glacio Chafe effect to the target. ・When Glacio Chafe is inflicted, the target receives Glacio DMG. Glacio Chafe stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG dealt. ・Each stack of Glacio Chafe effect reduces the target's Movement Speed. When Glacio Chafe reaches max stacks, the target will be frozen, and all stacks of Glacio Chafe will be removed. ・Struggle to accelerate your recovery from the Frozen state. |
Changes to the 4 Negative Statuses took effect with Version 2.8. Havoc Bane, Fusion Burst, Glacio Chafe, and Electro Flare's stacking mechanics and debuffs to enemies have been adjusted.
Negative Status Effects Explained
Echo Batch Absorption
With Version 2.8, you may now absorb multiple Echoes at once. This is highly useful in Nightmare Nest Challenges.
Auto Supplement Materials
This feature automatically supplies the necessary materials needed for upgrading your characters and weapons for Synthesis, Conversion, and Supply Pack opening without the need to go to their menus.
Background App Audio Mute
The game now lets you have the option to have Wuthering Waves be mute when you switch to a different application. This QoL update is available with the Version 2.8 for Windows only.
Improved Boss Challenges
Minor QoL updates to Boss Challenges are now available with Version 2.8. When players complete or defeat bosses, claiming rewards now shows a Restart button.
Improvements to Tactical Hologram challenges now also restore full STA upon restarting the fight.
Optimized Guidebook Display
The Guidebook display is now more optimized with Version 2.8, as repeating gamemodes like Whimpering Wastes, Fantasies of the Thousand Gateways, and Tower of Adversity now belong under one tab.
Improved Graphics
Optimizations towards graphics are available with Version 2.8. This update improves immersive lighting and ray tracing for players to better experience the game.
