Armor is currently capped at 1000 to reduce physical damage in Diablo 4 (D4). See the armor cap for your Armor stat, as well as how you can increase your Armor!

What is the Armor Cap?

Armor Caps at 1000

As of Season 6, the total Armor Cap for players is now a total of 1000 to reach the max 85% Physical Damage Resistance. The numerical value of your armor may exceed 1000, but the Physical Damage Resistance caps at 85%.

Armor Explained

Reduces Damage Taken

In the simplest sense, Armor reduces incoming physical damage that your character takes. This applies to both direct Physical damage and Damage over time caused by Bleeding, etc.

Max Damage Reduction

Armor also has a Max Damage Reduction of 85% of incoming Physical damage dealt by any enemy that is of the same Level. At any given point, you can only achieve a maximum of 85% of Physical Damage Reduction, other resistances will then be applied after the computation of the damage reduction from Armor.

Armor is a Collective Stat

Armor is a collective stat. A part of it is based on the stats of all pieces of Equipment you have equipped and the Aspects you have applied to those pieces of equipment.

Additionally your Strength stat also plays a role in determining you base bonus for Armor. Other sources such as elixirs and skills also play a role in boosting your armor.

How to Increase Armor

Temper Equipment with Worldly Endurance

Diablo 4 - Worldly Endurance

With the Tempering and Masterwork Systems, you can improve your armor by adding and even improving the Affixes tied to them. One good example is the Worldly Endurance Affix that boosts your base armor by up to 15%.

Worldly Endurance Affixes and How to Get

Equip Legendary Gear

If you are not fully levelled up to fight in endgame content yet, your other option would be to simply equip better gear, preferably Legendary Gear. Farming in Helltides or the Infernal Hordes is sure way to get better armor while also increasing your level.
