List of Seasons: How Do Seasons Work?
The Battle Pass, or the Season Pass, is a system that gives players rewards by leveling it up. Players can increase its level by earning Battle Pass XP (also known as Favor) through in-game activities.
These activities yield different amounts of Favor, which is usually scaled to its difficulty. Completing these activities not only contribute to leveling up the Season Pass, but also helps players in building their characters and progressing the game as a whole.
In order to progress and level up the Battle Pass, players will have to create and play with a new Seasonal Character, as confirmed by Franchise General Manager Rod Fergusson on Twitter. This also means that characters already in the Eternal Realm cannot help level up or progress the Battle Pass.
How to Farm Favor and Complete the Battle Pass Fast
The Battle Pass can be leveled up by earning Favor from playing season characters, completing season quests, participating in events, and more. Players can consult the Season Journey, a returning feature that guides players on objectives they can complete in order to level up their Battle Pass more efficiently.
Price | Battle Pass Type | Inclusions |
---|---|---|
Free | Free Battle Pass | ・27 Free Tiers |
$9.99 USD | Premium Battle Pass | ・All Bonuses from Free Battle Pass ・63 Premium Tiers |
$24.99 USD | Accelerated Battle Pass | ・All Bonuses from Premium Battle Pass ・20 Tier Skips ・Wings of the Creator Emote |
Like most games with the same system, there will be two types of Battle Passes available in Diablo 4—a free Battle Pass which contains 27 Free Tiers and a premium one with 63 Premium Tiers.
Additionally, there is the Accelerated Battle Pass which includes all the bonuses of the Premium Battle pass along with 20 Tier Skips and the Wings of the Creator Emote.
Purchasing the Deluxe Edition of Diablo 4 will automatically unlock the premium Battle Pass rewards. Getting the Ultimate Edition instead will not only give you the premium Battle Pass, but also raises its level to 20 right off the bat. The premium Season Pass will cost $10 USD if purchased separately.
Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Edition Prices and Differences
As mentioned in the Developer Update Livestream on December 2022, each Battle Pass will last an entire season, which is equivalent to three months. It was also said in the same video that it would take active players around 75 hours to fully level up a Season Pass through its activities.
Those who bought the Premium and Accelerated Battle Pass will have access to exclusive rewards like emotes and cosmetics. As previously stated, the premium version of the Battle Pass will not provide any in-game power and instead will unlock tiers that provide Cosmetics only available during that Season.

With the Free Battle Pass, players can get 27 Free Tiers that contain a mix of Cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes while players purchasing the Premium and Accelerated versions can expect to receive even more Cosmetics as well as the Platinum currency. Platinum can be used to purchase more Cosmetics available from the Shop.
Smoldering Ashes are resources earned by reaching certain tiers in the Battle Pass which can then be spent on Season Blessings. Season Blessings provide players with bonuses that help in earning XP, Gold, Materials, and Hearts depending on which Blessings are active.
