Go around the map and find all Altars of Lilith in each zone. Ignore enemies and use your Mount if you have one to travel faster. You will also get permanent stat boosts for all your characters on top of the Renown. There are a total of 160 Altars of Lilith to collect, but since they carry over to all characters and even across Seasons, it's worth the time to get them all.
All Altars of Lilith Locations
If possible, you can party up with three other players and finish Dungeons separately. Each individual Dungeon clear counts for the rest of the party members, including the Renown earned.
Whenever a party member completes a dungeon, the Codex of Power will progress, unlocking the Aspect for all members in the party. If you are having difficulty in clearing dungeons solo, you can do this method on a lower World Tier.
Side Quests are easy sources of Renown. Try to do every Side Quest you encounter while progressing through the game to quickly rack up Renown and also earn other useful rewards.
Some Side Quests requires you to run a specific dungeon. Try to prioritize these Side Quests before you start clearing all the dungeons to avoid backtracking.
Try to rush and clear new dungeons as fast as you can if you're looking to quickly gain Renown. Each cleared dungeon rewards you with 40 Renown and unlocks a new Aspect for your Codex.
You can freely skip Cellars and World Events when hunting for Renown points as neither of these open world activities reward Renown.
Reaching certain Renown Point milestones rewards players with Skill Points, Potion Charges, Murmuring Obol capacity, and Paragon Points. Each region has its own set of rewards, so make sure to explore all 5 of them thoroughly as you reach endgame.
Activity | Renown Points |
---|---|
Discovering a new area | 5 |
Finding an Altar of Lilith | 10 |
Activating a Waypoint | 20 |
Finishing a Side Quest | 30 |
Clearing a Dungeon | 40 |
Reclaiming a Stronghold | 100 |
You can check your current Renown by opening the Map screen, hovering over a discovered area, and checking the ribbon bar that appears at the top of the screen. This ribbon bar shows your current Renown for the area as well as the number of other landmarks and points of interest you've already discovered.
You can also view a more in-depth breakdown of your current Renown and unlocked rewards by pressing the W Key (Triangle for PlayStation, Y for Xbox) in the Map screen to open up the Region Progress screen.
The Renown System is a brand new game mechanic intimately tied to Diablo 4's open world structure. Encouraging players to explore and complete the various activities available in the open world, the Renown System rewards you with Renown Points that, in turn, allows you to hit milestones that give you powerful rewards.
Each of the 5 regions will have their own separate Renown Point Tally. This means that players will have to fully seek out and complete the open world activities tied to Renown in order reap the full benefits of the system for their current character.
After the release of Seasons, players became able to retain their progress on Altars of Lilith and World Map discovery for their new Seasonal Characters.
