Diablo 4 - Elective Mode: How to Assign Skills

There is no option to activate Elective Mode as players are now free to assign skills to any slot in Diablo 4 (D4). Read on to learn more what Elective Mode is and how to assign skills in the game.

What is Elective Mode?

Allows Players to Freely Assign Skills

Diablo 4 - Elective Mode HUD

Elective Mode is a setting that allows players to to assign their skills to any available slot. In Diablo 3, players had to manually enable this setting but with Diablo 4, there is no longer a need for Elective Mode as the game allows you to rearrange and assign skills to your desired slots.

How to Assign Skills

Drag Skill Icons From Skill Assignment Flyout

Diablo 4 - Skill Assignment Flyout

Players can assign skills by pressing S to open up the Skill Assignment Flyout then drag the skill icon to whichever slot you want. With this setting, players are now given more flexibility on how their HUD is presented as well as a more personalized loadout of skills.
