One of the key functions of the Jeweler is the crafting and combining of gems. Like in previous Diablo titles, gems are a special type of item that can be socketed into your equipment, giving them additional effects and bonuses depending on the type of gem. Spend gold and combine your low-tier gems to craft more powerful gems for socketing.

With the introduction of Runes in the Vessel of Hatred Expansion, the Jeweler now offers Rune crafting services, allowing players to craft random Runes or specific Mythic Uniques using Runes as crafting material.

Andariel's Visage | Doombringer | Harlequin Crest |
Melted Heart of Selig | Ring of Starless Skies | Tyrael’s Might |
Heir of Perdition | Shroud of False Death | Shattered Vow |
Above is a list of all Mythic Uniques craftable by the Jeweler. Each Mythic Unique requires 10 Magic, 10 Rare, and 10 specific Legendary Runewords, along with 1 Resplendent Spark to craft.
The Jeweler can also add gem sockets to any piece of your equipment in exchange for Gold and Scattered Prisms. This allows you to slot gems into items that fit your build, giving them more utility on top of the stats and Aspects they already possess.
Note: Scattered Prisms are not easily obtained as these rare crafting materials only drop after defeating World Bosses in Diablo 4. Keep this in mind before adding gem sockets to your items.
Aside from gem crafting, the Jeweler can also unsocket slotted gems from your equipment. If you want to switch out certain bonuses and effects, or replace your build's gems entirely, you can use the Unsocket function of the Jeweler to quickly remove gems from your equipment.
Gems can be salvaged at the Jeweler to obtain an equal number of Gem Fragments required to craft the gem itself. It is recommended to use Gem Fragments early on to craft lower-tier gems, as they can provide valuable stat boosts to your character throughout the game, as long as you can afford the gold cost. Then later on in the game, you can salvage them in the future to craft better gems.
The Jeweler is an NPC that will you can access at Level 1 but only after completing the Priority Quest called Gem Crafting.
