This is a guide to finding the elusive Forgotten Altars in Diablo 4 (D4)'s Season 7, Season of the Witches. Read on to know how to find the Forgotten Altars in the game as well as what Forgotten Altars can do in the game.
|
|
| Difficulty | Chances of Appearing |
|---|---|
| Torment I | Forgotten Witchcraft Altars have a 1% chance to appear in dungeons. |
| Torment II | Forgotten Witchcraft Altars have a 2% chance to appear in dungeons. |
| Torment III | Forgotten Witchcraft Altars have a 3% chance to appear in dungeons. |
| Torment IV | Forgotten Witchcraft Altars have a 5% chance to appear in dungeons. |
Forgotten Altars can only be found in Torment I or higher difficulties so make sure you unlock and progress The Pit as much as you can. Keep in mind that if you run The Pit on Tier 20 or above, it will consider that run as Torment difficulty depending on the Tier you are running on.

Dungeons are the main area to find Forgotten Altars which have a small chance of spawning them in every run. These Altars are extremely rare to find but can provide Witchcraft Powers that can greatly help your build.
You can also use the Draught of Whispers elixir to double your chances of finding a Forgotten Altar. Keep in mind that this elixir only has a 1 hour duration and can be stacked with other elixirs.
How to Get Draught of Whispers

Dungeons that have a smaller map size and short objective are great dungeons to run for a chance of finding Forgotten Altars. Consider running bare minimum Torment 4 pit dungeons or the Hoarfrost Demise Dungeon which is one of the smallest dungeons in the game for a faster completion time and be able to complete more dungeon runs in a shorter time span.

Another seasonal dungeon mechanics include the Roothold which is a dungeon that can be modified to reward the player with multiple different legendaries. It's a smaller dungeon and is a good place to consider farming for huge amounts of loots and a chance to find a Forgotten Altar.

Interacting with a Forgotten Altar gives you a chance to learn a new Witchcraft Power that is part of the Lost category.
Beware that there is an RNG aspect when using Forgotten Altars as you can either learn a new Lost Witchcraft Power or randomly upgrade an existing Lost Witchcraft Power.
Aside from learning new Witchcraft, you also have a chance to upgrade your already existing Lost Witchcraft Powers when using Forgotten Altars. Keep in mind that this can only upgrade Lost Witchcraft Powers and not the ones from other categories.
