The Purveyor of Curiosities is a unique NPC in Diablo 4 (Diablo IV) that allows players to spend their Obols and roll for a piece of equipment with random stats and rarity. Sells Items of Random Rarities in Exchange for Obols

The Purveyor of Curiosities is a special type of NPC that allows players to exchange Obols for a type of weapon or armor of random stats and rarity. Do note that while you can get Legendary equipment by trying your luck at the Curiosity Vendor, it is not guaranteed that you will get one within the first few rolls.

Obols Have a Max Cap so Make Sure to Spend Them at the Curiosity Vendor

As with any type of currency, the temptation is there to save it for rolls later on. However, Obols in Diablo 4 will have a maximum capacity unlike Gold. Make sure to spend them before hitting max cap so you don't miss out on acquiring more Obols as you explore the open world. The max cap can be increased by raising your Renown.

Starts Rolling Sacred Items at World Tier 3

Upon reaching World Tier 3, the Purveyor of Curiosities vendor will start being able to roll for Sacred items. This is indicated by a glowing effect at the top of the item icon in the vendor menu.

Note: Just as with Legendary items drops, while Sacred items can drop when you attempt to roll, the indicator does not guarantee that a Sacred item will drop each time you make a purchase.

How to Change World Tier

Sells Whispering Keys to Open Silent Chests

One unique item that players can purchase from the Purveyor of Curiosities is the Whispering Key. These special keys that cost 20 Obols are used to open the Silent Chests you find in the open-world. Much like the items purchased from the Curiosity Vendor, these chests contain a random pile of loot, with a chance to drop Legendaries if you are lucky.

How to Unlock the Purveyor of Curiosities

Complete the Prologue and Reach Kyovashad

To unlock the Purveyor of Curiosities, players will first need to complete the Prologue of Diablo 4 and reach Kyovashad. After finishing the Prologue, you will be free to explore the entirety of the open-world and locate the different Purveyor of Curiosities on the map.
