Wandering Death Tips and Strategies

Optimize Your Build and Gear

Diablo 4 - Optimize Your Gear

It is recommended to have optimized gear and builds for your respective class. If you are missing key pieces like Aspects from the Codex of Power, you can try farming for legendary items and gambling with the Purveyor of Curiosities.

Best Builds for PvE and PvP

Party Up With Other Players

Diablo 4 - Party Up

World Bosses are extremely difficult to take on alone. It is highly recommended to team up with other players because there is a 15-minute time limit for these encounters. You will need all the extra firepower and crowd control you can get from other players in order to succeed.

What Is the Maximum Party Size?

Use Crowd Control

Diablo 4 - Wandering Death Staggered

World Bosses have a Stagger Bar below their Health Bar. Filling up the Stagger Bar by using crowd control Skills will open up a window for your party to deal as much damage as you can.

In addition, when Wandering Death is staggered, two Trapped Souls will spawn. Kill them as soon as possible to deal extra damage.

All Crowd Control Effects

Crowd Control is a generic term for debilitating effects which limit or stop enemy movement. The table below lists all effects in the game that contribute to Crowd Control.

Crowd Control Effect List
Stun Immobilize
Slow Knockdown
Taunt Fear
Tether Daze
Knockback Petrify
Chill Freeze

Revive Yourself Immediately

Diablo 4 - Revive Yourself Immediately

Waiting for allies to revive you will use up time that could be better used to deal damage instead. It also puts them in a dangerous position and puts them at risk of taking a lethal attack from Wandering Death. Take the 10% loss in equipment durability and return to the fray immediately!

Lower World Tier Difficulty

Diablo 4 - Lower World Tier Difficulty

As a last resort, you can always try to lower the World Tier. You may get an upgrade that can help you beat Wandering Death at a higher World Tier.

How to Change World Tier

Wandering Death Attack Patterns

Minor Attacks

Bone Vortex

Wandering Death summons small tornadoes into the field. These are easily avoidable as long as you stay mindful of your positioning.

Ground Rake

Wandering Death rends the ground in straight lines and pulls back the shattered fragments. This attack moves pretty slow and is easily avoidable, but increases in number as the fight goes on.

Shockwave

Wandering Death sends out a massive shockwave that knocks everyone back to reset the fight and disrupt formation.

Dangerous Attacks

Ground Pound

Wandering Death slams the ground with its massive hands that sends spikes hurtling forward. As the fight continues, Wandering Death will use more hands to increase the AoE of this attack. Watch out for the AoE indicator on the ground to avoid this attack.

Death Ray

Wandering Death fires two beams from its hands and slowly rotates. This attack takes some time to wind up and is easily avoidable, but it deals massive damage to anyone caught. Wandering Death fires more beams as its health drops.

Bone Prison

Wandering Death has its own version of the Necromancer's Bone Prison but much deadlier. After spawning a circular wall of bones, an explosion will occur shortly. Players caught in the Bone Prison has a few seconds to escape, and failure to do so will most likely deal fatal damage.
