Salvage

Material	How to Get
Forgotten Soul	Found during the Helltide. Used to improve sacred and ancestral items.
Veiled Crystal	Salvaged from rare weapons and armor, and used to alter the latent magic of things.
Coiling Ward	Salvaged from, and used to improve, legendary armor.
Abstruse Sigil	Salvaged from, and used to improve, legendary jewelry.
Sigil Powder	Obtained by using the Occultist to salvage nightmare sigils of any tier.
Baleful Fragment	Salvaged from, and used to improve, legendary weapons.
Resplended Spark	Salvaged from mythic Unique equipment. Transmute it at the Alchemist to create new mythic Unique equipment.

Material	How to Get
Gallowvine	An herb used in the crafting of potions, elixirs and incense. Can appear nearly everywhere.
Angelbreath	A rare herb used in the crafting of elixirs. Can appear nearly everywhere.
Fiend Rose	An exceptionally hard to find herb. Found during the Helltide, when Sanctuary gives way to Hell's influence.
Howler Moss	An herb used in the crafting of potions, elixirs, and incense. Found in Scosglen.
Biteberry	An herb used in the crafting of potions, elixirs, and incense. Found in Fractured Peaks.
Reddamine	A fungus used in the crafting of potions, elixirs, and incense. Found in Dry Steppes.
Blightshade	An herb used in the crafting of potions, elixirs, and incense. Found in Hawezar.
Lifesbane	An herb used in the crafting of potions, elixirs, and incense. Found in Kehjistan.

Ore

Iron Chunk	Metal used for improving weapons and jewelry. Found in veins nearly everywhere.
Silver Ore	Rare metal used for improving weapons and jewelry. Found in veins nearly everywhere.
Scattered Prism	A mysterious prism most often found in very, very large bodies, such as world bosses.

Rawhide	Common leather used for improving armor. Can be obtained from the various wildlife and beasts.
Superior Leather	Rare leather used for improving armor. Can be obtained from the various wildlife and beasts.

Material	How to Get
Demon's Heart	Found in the bodies of demons.
Paletongue	Found in the mouths of evil humans.
Grave Dust	Found in the bodies, bones, or cerements of the undead.
Crushed Beast Bones	Found by killing beasts and animals, as well as werecreatures.

Masterworks (PTR Server)

Material	How to Get
Runeshard	An ancient token used by the Horadrim to enter The Pit of the Artificer. Most often found in Whisper Bounties, Helltide, Legion Chests, and Nightmare Dungeons.
Obducite	Earned from The Pit, and used to Masterwork your equipment at the Blacksmith.
Ingolith	Earned from The Pit, and used to Masterwork your equipment at the Blacksmith.
Neathiron	Earned from The Pit, and used to Masterwork your equipment at the Blacksmith.

These materials are currently not available on the Live server and can only be obtained by participating in Legion Events, Helltide, Whispers, and Nightmare Dungeons or by completing The Pit, which can be accessed in the PTR Server of Diablo 4.

Upgrade Equipment at the Blacksmith

Diablo 4 - How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor

You can use the Ore, Skins, and Salvage you've collected to upgrade your weapons and armor at the Blacksmith. We highly recommend only enhancing your Rare and Legendary equipment as upgrading is costly in both Gold and Upgrade Materials.

Craft Potions and Elixirs at the Alchemist

Diablo 4 - Alchemist Health Potion Upgrading

You can use the Plants and Monster Parts you've collected to craft upgraded Health Potions and various Elixirs at the Alchemist. Upgrade your Health Potions frequently when hitting level milestones to improve your survivability, and don't hesitate to craft Elixirs if you need stat or Experience Gain boosts!
