Crowd Control is a term in Diablo 4 (D4) that pertains to actions that slow or completely stop a target's movement. Learn every type of crowd control, skills that inflict crowd control, and the affixes and aspects that affect it!

In Diablo 4, Crowd Control (CC) is a type of Status Effect that reduces enemy effectivity by disrupting their movement and attacks by either slowing them down, immobilizing them, or rendering them unable to attack.

Both players and enemies can gain or activate a buff called Unstoppable. While Unstoppable is active, Crowd Control effects won't work on that specific unit. There are multiple sources of Unstoppable, such as Skills, Uniques, and Legendary Aspects, among others.
The only exception to this are Bosses, which are not innately Unstoppable but need to be staggered in order to be Crowd Controlled.
According to the in-game tooltip, all of the following effects will count as Crowd Control for the purpose of Skills and Affixes.
Crowd Control | Effects |
---|---|
Chill | Chilled Enemies have reduced Movement Speed. Repeatedly Chilling an enemy will Freeze it. |
Daze | Enemies will have reduced vision and will be unable to cast skills. |
Fear | Causes enemies to involuntarily run away from the caster. |
Frozen | Frozen Enemies cannot move or attack. Enemies can be Frozen by repeatedly Chilling them. |
Immobilize | Roots enemies into place. |
Knockback | Pushes enemies away from the caster |
Knockdown | Topples target, which renders them unable to move or cast skills. |
Slow | Reduces enemy Movement Speed. |
Stagger | Only applicable to bosses, this will incapacitate them for a certain amount of time. |
Stun | Causes enemies to be unable to move or cast skills. |
Taunt | Forces enemies to target and attack the caster. |
Tether | Hinders enemy movement by locking them within a certain area. |

When Bosses are Staggered, they are considered to have All Crowd Control Effects at once, so they are susceptible to Skills and Affixes related to Crowd Control when in this state.

Concealment | Vanish from sight, gaining an advanced form of Stealth for 5 seconds that will not be removed by taking damage. Concealment also makes you Unstoppable, grants 30% Movement Speed, and allows you to move freely through enemies for its duration. Using an attack Skill during Concealment will break Concealment. |

Devouring Blaze | You deal XX% increased Critical Strike Damage against Burning enemies. If they are also Immobilized, this bonus is increased to YY%. |
Frost Bolt | Throw a bolt of frost at an enemy, dealing XX damage and Chilling them for 15%. |
