Summon the Blood Maiden and Open Tortured Gifts in Helltide

Diablo 4 - Helltide

Summoning the Blood Maiden and opening smaller Tortured Gifts during Helltide events are among the best methods to farm Forgotten Souls. The Blood Maiden can drop around three Forgotten Souls when defeated, with a bonus to players who offered Baneful Hearts to summon her.

Additionally, its more efficient to open the smaller Tortured Gifts since they provide the same number of Forgotten Souls as the larger ones for a fewer amount of Aberrant Cinders.

Open the Infernal Hordes Material Chest

Infernal Horde - Open the Infernal Hordes Material Chest

Another effective method of obtaining Forgotten Souls is by opening the Spoils of Materials chest in the Infernal Hordes. While it may drop more Forgotten Souls compared to Helltide events, farming Infernal Hordes generally takes longer, making it less efficient for consistent farming.

Complete the Undercity of Kurast

Diablo 4 - Undercity of Kurast

The Kurast Undercity, a new time-trial dungeon introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion, is an excellent location for farming general materials, including Forgotten Souls. Unfortunately, the Tributes you can use to make your runs more rewarding do not increase the Forgotten Souls you receive.

Clear the Dark Citadel

Diablo 4 - Dark Citadel

The Dark Citadel is a high-level multiplayer-focused raid available only to players who own the Vessel of Hatred expansion. While the raid can yield a large number of materials, including Forgotten Souls, it requires a well-coordinated party and a significant time investment, making it a less efficient option for solo farming.

Barter With Mercenaries

Diablo 4 - Barter With Mercenaries

The Mercenaries you partner with in Nahantu occasionally offer Forgotten Souls in exchange for Pale Marks when Bartering with them, providing another way to acquire Forgotten Souls. Mercenaries are exclusive to players that own the Vessel of Hatred Expansion.

How to Use Forgotten Souls

Used to Enchant Your Equipment

Diablo 4 - Enchanting with Forgotten Souls

Forgotten Souls are vital for Enchanting your legendary items at the Occultist. Enchanting allows you to re-roll a single affix on your item to potentially get a more desirable stat. Ensure you have enough Forgotten Souls, Gold, and Veiled Crystals before attempting to re-roll your affixes!

How to Upgrade Equipment

Used to Masterwork Ancestral Equipment

Forgotten Souls are essential to Masterwork Ancestral or Mythic Unique Equipment. Masterworking further enhances your gear, upgrading the effects of the affixes on the item. The amount of Forgotten Souls and other materials needed increases with each Masterwork tier, making it crucial to farm plenty of Forgotten Souls for advanced upgrades.
