Obols (Murmuring Obols) can be obtained by completing World Events, The Pit, Nightmare Dungeons, quests, and cleansing Cursed Chests and Shrines found throughout Sanctuary in Diablo 4 (D4). Learn more about what Obols are and how to get them quickly!

The Pit is currently the best activity for farming Obols, as completing a Pit run before the timer ends will reward players with a Mastery Chest at the end of the pit. The Mastery Chest contains Obols in higher quantity compared to other activities, this makes the Pit a reliable farming method for Obols, XP, and Glyph XP.
You can obtain murmuring Obols when you're farming Nightmare Dungeons either for Artificer's Stones, Obducites, or Distilled Fear. Since the Obols are only rewarded upon completion of the Nightmare Dungeon, this is not a recommended farming method if you're solely farming for Obols.
As you explore Sanctuary, you will encounter Chests and Shrines that reward you with items and buffs, respectively. However, there is a small chance for the Chest or Shrine to be cursed. Cursed Chests and Shrines will spawn waves of enemies but upon clearing them, you will be rewarded for your efforts.
You can also receive Obols by completing quests that give a Murmuring Cache as a reward.

Obols (Murmuring Obols) are currency used to purchase randomized equipment from the Purveyor of Curiosities. You can also use them to buy Whispering Keys, which unlock Silent Chests.
