Diablo 4 - Can You Augment Equipment

Augments, an endgame mechanic from Diablo 3, are not confirmed to return in Diablo 4 (D4). Read on to learn about the status of augmenting equipment in the game and more about augments.

As of writing, there has been no official news or announcements about augmenting equipment returning in Diablo 4. In addition, there were no known sightings or hints of augments found during the Open Beta and Early Access weekends.

Enchanting Is a Similar Mechanic

However, a similar mechanic called enchanting does exist in Diablo 4. Enchanting at the Occultist allows players to replace or reroll specific affixes on Rare and Legendary items.

This mechanic is similar to augments, which provide additional attribute bonus affixes for Ancient, Primal Ancient, and Set items in Diablo 3.

What Are Augments?

Diablo 3 - Caldesann

The image above shows information about augments from Diablo 3.

In Diablo 3, the Kanai's Cube artifact allowed players to use the Caldesann's Despair Horadric Recipe to add augments to their endgame gear, which provided massive attribute bonuses that greatly enhanced their characters.

However, these augments required plenty of high-level and Legendary Gems, and players could only apply augments to Ancient, Primal Ancient, and Set items.
