How to Farm Ancestral Items 1

The best way to farm Ancestral items are through the Infernal Hordes that can be accessed using Infernal Compasses. This roguelike game mode is capable of dropping tons of legendary and unique items from the Spoils of Greater Equipment chest reward found after completing all waves.

Make sure you are properly built before taking this on as this is a wave-based game mode that requires a good amount of survivability.

Certain Ladder and Uber Bosses are capable of dropping Legendary gear and target farm specific Uniques that can also drop as Ancestral Items. Try to stock up on Boss Materials first so you can do multiple continuous runs and get higher chances of obtaining Ancestral gear.

After completing certain events and accumulating Grim Favors, make sure to visit the Tree of Whispers once your Grim Favors are maxed out as the Whisper Caches they offer are also capable of dropping Ancestral Items.

How to Farm Ancestral Items in Vessel of Hatred

For those with the Vessel of Hatred expansion, the Kurast Undercity is able to drop a good amount of Legendaries with a chance of them being Ancestral Items as well. Although the loot is not that large, the dungeon itself is short and consists of only 3 Floors which makes rerunning this extremely fast.

Additionally, you are also able to pick a certain Affix you want to have on your gear by offering Tributes and using a Bargain at the Spirit Brazier before starting the dungeon.

Stronger Variants of Regular Items Always Contains At Least 1 Greater Affix Can Be Imprinted with Aspects Can Be Legendary or Unique Items

Stronger Variants of Regular Items

Ancestral Items are items that are a tier higher than your regular items. Unlike regular items that have an item power cap of 750, all Ancestral Items will have 800 Item power which will naturally cause these items to have higher values for their affixes.

Note that Ancestral items aren't counted as exceptions when selling and salvaging items. To avoid accidentally disposing of valuable gear, we recommend using the Mark as Junk mechanic in the inventory and only selling marked items.

Always Contains At Least 1 Greater Affix

One perk of obtaining an Ancestral Gear is their guarantee of at least 1 greater affix. This makes it mandatory to start collecting Ancestral Gear once you unlock Torment difficulties to strengthen your character further by getting access to affixes with the highest value!

Can Be Imprinted with Aspects

At the Occultist, you can imprint Legendary Aspects onto magic or rare Ancestral gear, allowing you to boost their power even further.

Ancestral items can either be of Legendary rating or Unique Rating. These versions feature potentially stronger effects and stat rolls, making them incredibly sought-after in the late game.

Ancestral Rares, Magic, and Common Are Unobtainable

As you reach the Torment tier difficulty, Rare items and items of lower rarity will no longer drop from the game. Instead of having these items, they will automatically drop as the salvaged material of the said item immediately when progressing on Torment Tier difficulties which essentially means you are auto-salvaging these gear without returning to town.

Play in Torment Difficulty to Gain Ancestral Gear

Due to their stronger stats and higher item power, Ancestral Items can only be obtained by playing in Torment tier difficulty. In addition to this, the higher torment difficulty you are playing at, the higher the chances of getting Ancestral gear. Strengthen your character and jump to the next torment tier to get more Ancestral equipment!
