Season 7 started last January 21, 2025 at 10 AM PST. This patch is set to bring in a new seasonal mechanic with new aspects, uniques, runes, along with a new zone event called Headhunts.
Season 7 New Features and Mechanics
New Feature: Witchcraft Powers
Witchcraft Powers grant new abilities that can augment and empower your existing skills. You can earn Witchcraft Powers through exploration or from the Coven, a group of Witches in Hawezar that serve the Tree of Whispers.
As you progress through the Season of Witchcraft you can gain and enhance your Witchcraft Powers.
New Activity: Headhunts
Hunt the Headrotten across Sanctuary with the new Headhunt activity. Headhunt zones will appear throughout the map which signal that Headrotten are in the zone. This activity is perfect for farming, Coven's Favor, and Grim Favors.
During the Season of Witchcraft, Whisper Bounties will now be turned over to the Raven of the Tree which can be found in Headhunt zones.
New Dungeon: Rootholds
Season 7 also introduces the new Rootholds Dungeon. This is a new dungeon that requires Whispering Wood Sigils that can be obtained in Whisper Caches and Silent Chests.
You can obtain Fugitive Heads and Restless Rot in this dungeon, allowing you to craft Occult Gems and learn new Witchcraft.
New Feature: Occult Gems
Occult Gems are new Seasonal Socketables crafted with materials earned from completing Whisper bounties and returning Fugitive Heads from Headhunts. These Gems provide additional affixes that synergize Witchcraft Powers and add Witchcraft tags to your Skills.
Each Occult Gem provides 160 Armor and 8% Resistance to All Elements. These gems can be crafted with Fugitive Heads, Restless Rot, Gem Fragments, and other Occult Gems.
Whisper Update and New Ancestral Cache
During Season of Witchcraft, there’s a chance that the Tree of Whispers will offer an Ancestral Collection as a reward for turning whisper bounties, guaranteeing at least 1 Ancestral item.
Note that this cache does not drop any Ancestral Item if you open it while you're below level 60. Since Ancestral items drop at max item level, it's best to save the cache for when you hit level 60.
New Uniques, Aspects, and Runes
Season 7 will also introduce new Uniques, Aspects, and Runes. These new equipment are tied to the balance changes coming to Season 7, paving new build setups and synergies.

Quality of Life Updates
Quality of Life changes will also be introduced in Season 7. These changes aim to ease up the grind players have to take to obtain their gear, specialization, and build changes.
The Armory
The Season 7 update also introduces the Armory, a system that lets you swap between your builds with ease. Note that the Armory is Character-bound, with each character having 5 loadout slots.
Class Quest Changes
The Class Quest for Specialization is now account-bound, meaning that you only have to complete the quest once, and your class will automatically have its specialization unlocked once you reach the required level.
