Players can farm runes by taking on Kurast Undercity activities or defeating Uber Bosses in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred (D4). Check out our guide to learn about how to farm runes in the game.

Kurast Undercity is a speed-based multistage dungeon where you can earn runes in addition to other rewards such as gold, legendary drops, and materials. Do note that to get runes as rewards you'll need to offer Tribute of Harmony.
You can unlock Kurast Undercity by completing the Reunion Quest in the Vessel of Hatred Campaign.

Defeating Uber Bosses is also a great way to farm runes as you are guaranteed to get them each time an Uber Boss is defeated.
World Bosses are also a decent source of Runes as you can get several runes at once after defeating a World Boss.
Crafting three runes of the same type will produce a random rune, allowing you a chance at obtaining your desired rune. You can craft runes at the Jeweler.
You can also get runes by trading with other players. Since the other player will need to select which items to trade, you can use the in-game chat to coordinate which rune or item you wish to trade.
How to Trade
Runes can randomly be obtained from chests and other activities in the game but we recommend doing activities with high Elite mob density such as The Pit, Nightmare Dungeons, or Kurast Undercity.
It is important to note that runes can only be obtained if you own the Vessel of Hatred Expansion. Players that have the base game and don't own the expansion may purchase it separately to access runes.
