This is a guide for the Dominion of Zagraal in the Dark Citadel of Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred (D4). Read on to learn the core mechanic of the Dominion of Zagraal, a guide for the puzzles and boss fights, and a walkthrough for each encounter!

Core Mechanic: Counterspell
- Kill a Spell Guardian to obtain a Counterspell Stone.
- Use any skill to Counterspell Soul Orbs from bosses and to open a portal.
The Counterspell is a recurring mechanic throughout the Dominion of Zagraal. To do this mechanic you need to kill a Spell Guardian and obtain a Counterspell stone to deflect a Soul Orb.
Experimental Gateway Portals
- Step on the pedestals to dispel the barriers to the portals.
- Enter the portals and deposit the Ward Stones to the Sealing Wards.
- Enter the portal leading to the Exalted Cloister.
In the Experimental Gateway area, you need to step on the pedestals to use the portals. Afterwards, kill the elites and deposit their Ward Stones in the Sealing Wards.
Boss Mechanic: Sigils
- Charge all four Soul Siphons by standing near each one.
- Deposit your marked sigil to its designated Siphon.
During the final boss fight, you need to charge each Soul Siphon by standing near one. Following this step, you then need to deposit your Sigil to the Siphon with its marking.

How to Beat Vorshok and Hurstt
| Vorshok and Hurstt Boss Guide | |

| 1 |  Kill the Spell Guardians that spawn during the boss fight to obtain a Counterspell Stone. |
| 2 |  Wait for either Vorshok or Hurstt to cast a Soul Orb then use any skill to counterspell and enter the portal to the spirit realm. |
| 3 | Kill the boss in the spirit realm then use the portal to head back to the Spiritcaller's Sanctum. |
| 4 | Repeat steps 1 to 3 for the remaining boss. |
Use the Counterspell mechanic to send Vorshok and Hurstt to the spirit realm. Afterwards, head to the portal to teleport into the spirit realm where you can damage and kill Vorshok and Hurstt.
How to Beat Zagraal

| 1 | Enter the portal to the spirit realm and deplete his health. |
| 2 | Once Zagraal becomes invincible, step on the pedestals found on the north side of the area to dispel the barrier around the conduit. Activate the conduit to open a portal and send Zagraal back to the throne room. |
| 3 |  Slay the enemies in the area to activate the Soul Siphons. |
| 4 | Zagraal will pull you and a Sigil will appear on top of your head. Charge the Soul Siphons then deposit the Sigils to their respective Siphons. |
| 5 | Kill the Spell Guardians that appear and use the Counterspell mechanic when Zagraal uses a Soul Orb to send him back to the spirit realm and begin the damage phase.. |
| 6 | Repeat steps 2 to 5. |
Zagraal's mechanic revolves around the Counterspell mechanic with the addition of dispelling barriers, charging Soul Siphons, and depositing Sigils.

Dominion of Zagraal Full Guide
| 1 | Zone: Vestibule of Divinity Work your way through to the Vestibule of Divinity and locate the Experimental Gateway. You have the option to hunt Treasure Wardens for extra rewards at the end. Note that the Treasure Wardens will be marked with a red goat icon in your mini-map. |

| 2 | Zone: Experimental Gateway Two people in your party need to stand on the pedestals to dispel the barrier blocking the portals. Separate your team and enter each portal to find your next path. Upon entering the portal, stand on the pedestals again to kill the Ward Guardians. Afterward, deposit their Ward Stones to the Sealing Wards to summon the portal to the next area. Note that only one portal will lead to the next area. Players who teleport back to the Experimental Gateway will have to enter the remaining portal. |
| 3 | Zone: Exalted Cloister Similar to the Vestibule of Divinity, simply work your way through to locate the Chamber of Echoes. Once again you have the option to hunt Treasure Wardens for extra rewards at the end. |
| 4 | Zone: Chamber of Echoes Kill the Spell Guardian and collect its Counterspell Stone. Afterward, cast any skill to counterspell the Soul Orb to open the portal to the next area. |
| 5 | Zone: Spiritcaller's Sanctum Slay the Spell Guardians that spawn in the area and counterspell the Soul Orbs from Vorshok and Hurstt to defeat them. ▲ How to Beat Vorshok and Hurstt |
| 6 | Zone: Path of the Immortal Work your way through the Path of the Immortal and locate the Throne of Zagraal. Note that this is the final area where you can hunt for Treasure Wardens to receive extra rewards at the end. |
| 7 | Zone: Throne of Zagraal Enter Zagraal's portal to the spirit realm and deplete his health there. When he becomes invulnerable, step on the pedestals to dispel the barrier around the conduit then activate the conduit to open a portal back to the throne room. In the throne room you will be pulled by Zagraal and each of your team will be marked with a sigil. Charge the Soul Siphons and deposit the sigils near their respective siphons. To send Zagraal back to the spirit realm for the damage phase, kill the Spell Guardians that appear and counterspell the Soul Orbs from Zagraal. ▲ How to Beat Zagraal |
Dominion of Zagraal Rewards
Severed Head of Zagraal
You'll receive the Severed Head of Zagraal once you defeat him in the Dark Citadel. The Severed Head of Zagraal is a quest item required for the Dark Citadel Community Challenge.
Khazra Armor Cosmetic
After clearing the Dominion of Zagraal, there's a high chance of obtaining any of the Khazra armor cosmetics, which you can consume to add a transmog option to your armor pieces!
Legendary Cache
You'll also get a Cache that can give you several legendary items, crafting materials, and Citadel coins.
