Diablo 4 - Infernal Horde Guide
The Infernal Horde is a roguelike endgame dungeon in Diablo 4 (D4). Read on to discover how to unlock and prepare for the Infernal Horde, including information on its rewards, how to enter, and the best boons to choose.

What is the Infernal Horde?

Horde-Based Dungeon

Infernal Horde - New Horde-Based Dungeon
The Infernal Horde is a roguelike, horde-based game mode introduced in Season 5. In this mode, you select various buffs that come with negative effects, which can impact the battle as you confront multiple waves of enemies.

To access this dungeon, you must use an Infernal Compass, which comes in different difficulties. The difficulty of the compass depends on the Torment difficulty you're on, with Torment 1 being the easiest, and Torment 4 being the hardest. The number of waves is now randomized for each compass.

How to Unlock the Infernal Horde

Reach Torment Difficulty

You can only access the Infernal Hordes in Torment difficulties as this is where you'll obtain the Infernal Compass needed to open the dungeon. You cannot use the Infernal Compass in Standard Difficulties as the difficulty of the Infernal Horde will rely on the Torment difficulty you're on.

How to Enter the Infernal Horde

Use An Infernal Compass

Infernal Horde - Infernal Compass
To enter the Infernal Horde, you need an item called the Infernal Compass. These compasses work like Nightmare Dungeon Sigils, allowing you to open a portal to start the dungeon.

You can obtain these compasses as rare drops from completing Whisper Bounties, Nightmare Dungeons, The Pit, opening chests in Helltide in any Torment difficulty.

Infernal Horde Rewards

Random Rewards Depending on Chest

Infernal Horde - Rewards
In the Infernal Horde, defeating enemies rewards you with a currency called Burning Aether. At the end of the Infernal Horde, you can use this currency to open chests containing various rewards.

There are three different types of chests available, each offering specific items depending on what you wish to farm.

List of Burning Aether Chests

Chest Burning Aether Reward
Spoils of Greater Equipment 200 ・ Guaranteed Ancestral Legendary Item
・Random Legendary Items
Spoils of Materials All Remaining Aether ・Gem Fragments
・Obducite
・Scroll of Restoration
・Crafting Materials
Spoils of Gold All Remaining Aether ・Gold

Fell Council Drops Legendary Items

The Fell Council now drops legendary items with Infernal Hordes Affixes on them. We're still determining what these Infernal Hordes affixes are, but our team will investigate this as soon as Season 6 drops.

Best Infernal Horde Boons for Farming

The Exalted Horde

The Exalted Horde boon allows you to spawn Aether Events faster when killing mobs, ultimately allowing you to gather more Aether in each wave. This is exceptionally great when paired with other boons tied to the Hellborn or Spire.

The Summoned Hellborne

The Summoned Hellborne is the best Aether Event in the Infernal Hordes because they grant the most Aether and they do not disappear when the wave timer runs out. The best upgrade for this boon is The Surging Hellborne which adds another Hellborne to the Aether Event and increases each Hellborn Aether drop by 1.
