Best Unique Item Farming Methods |
---|
|
As of Season 3, Helltides have become the easiest activities to run in order to gain Uniques without having to sacrifice progression. Given they now spawn every hour as of Patch 1.3.0, Helltides will be your go-to Unique farming method once you hit WT3 and WT4.
However, do note that while these chests won't really guarantee a Unique drop, you will still need to run Helltides to get boss material drops. These mats allow you to target farm Uniques since they are used to summon Grigoire and, by extension, Duriel later on.

The Beast in the Ice | Lord Zir |
Duriel the Maggot King |
Defeating Uber Bosses is the next best method for farming Uniques quickly. Despite the activity being gated by the need to farm boss materials, the rewards are more than worth it especially at WT4 since you also have a chance to get high item power rares.
Tip: Varshan is one of the easiest bosses to solo farm. Offering a wide variety of Uniques that can kickstart meta endgame builds, consider farming Varshan first before you start hoarding mats for Grigoire.
All Uber Bosses and Boss Loot Tables
The Beast in the Ice endgame boss is the source of all new Unique Items in Season 3. Players looking to get any of the 6 new Uniques will need to collect Distilled Fear in order to fight this endgame Uber Boss.
Beast in the Ice Uber Boss Guide
One of the best ways to hit the ground running for your attempt at the new Weekly Gauntlet will be to farm Uniques and Uber Uniques via Duriel. Introduced in Season 2, this endgame boss is the only one that can drop very rare and powerful Uber Uniques.
Tip: Farming Duriel requires a lot of boss materials that you can only get from Varshan and Grigoire. To make this method more efficient, consider partying up so that everyone can pool their resources and chain together multiple Duriel runs.
Duriel Boss Guide and Loot Table
Running and completing Nightmare Dungeons will also give you a chance to get Unique Items. However, in order to make this a bit more efficient, only do this when you're looking to level up your Paragon Glyphs.
Since Nightmare Dungeons take a considerable amount of time to clear, you're better off running multiple Helltides instead (especially at max glyph levels) since these tie-in directly with farming boss mats for Duriel runs.
It is also possible to get Uniques by farming specific enemy types found in Diablo 4. This is usually done by running certain Nightmare Dungeons multiple times due to the enemy types found within.
However, do note that this method is very slow and outdated. Ever since the introduction of Uber Bosses in Season 2, this method has fallen out of the meta. While nice to know, it is still faster and easier to farm Uber Bosses than to run Nightmare Dungeons for Uniques.

Certain types of enemies have a higher chance to drop a specific type of item, depending on which family or archetype they belong to. For example, Spiders and Vampires are more likely to drop 2H Swords than any other type of enemies, so farming Level 85+ Spiders and Vampires are the best way to get the The Grandfather.
Below is a list of the Uber Uniques and the best Dungeons to target farm them in, as well as the enemy types you need to look out for.

Unlike Legendary Items, Uniques are one step up in rarity, dropping with a fixed Aspect and set of Affixes. The Aspect and Affix set attached to Uniques are often build-defining, making these items highly sought after during the endgame.
Uniques can only drop from enemies after you hit WT3+. At WT4, Uniques will start dropping in Ancestral quality, allowing them to roll higher item power values on drop compared to Sacred quality Uniques.
Uber Uniques stand out because of they have more powerful Aspects, compared to regular Unique items. As the name suggests, these are much more powerful but incredibly rare, and have an abysmally low drop rate.
However, as of Season 2, Uber Uniques can now by target farmed. Challenge and defeat Duriel the King of Maggots to get a chance at a rare Uber Unique drop.
There are 7 Uber Uniques currently in the game with Ahavarion Spear of Lycander being the most recent addition from Season 2.
