New Gameplay Features

Open World

Diablo 4 - world map

Diablo 4 will give players a great degree of freedom in the open world of Sanctuary, where they can stray from the main campaign and do side content as they please. Complete side quests, raid dungeons, and free strongholds to prepare yourself before taking on the forces of Lilith!

Expanded Skill System

Diablo 4 - Rogue Skill Tree

The class skill menu is revamped into an expanded skill tree where the Active Skills, Passive Skills, along with their upgrades are all connected. As your character levels up, you will receive skill points that you can spend to unlock a skill node, which will open the other skills and upgrades it branches out to.

Mounts

Diablo 4 - character riding a mount

Don't worry about exploring the vast map on foot as your trusty mount will get you around! Summon your mount to quickly move from one point to another or escape from danger.

You can get the Light Bearer Mount by pre-ordering any edition of Diablo 4 and the Temptation Mount if you bought the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions!

PvP Zones

Diablo 4 - Field of Hatred

There are designated PvP areas across the map called Fields of Hatred where participating players can engage others in combat and collect Seeds of Hatred. These are items to be collected within the zone by dispatching demons and converted into Red Dust to purchase Cosmetics and Mounts.

Defeated players will drop the Seeds of Hatred that they hold and allow others to pick them up. Overwhelm other players for their seeds and defend yours from attackers until they are smashed into Red Dusts!

World Events and Bosses

Diablo 4 - Ashava

While doing quests or simply exploring, you might run into a group of players working together to defeat a horde of monsters or an enormous World Boss. These are World Events that happen in the open world where players can participate and achieve the same goal. Taking part in such events will always give players bountiful rewards, so try to contribute however you can whenever you run into one!

Weapon Attack Speeds

Diablo 4 - weapon attack speed

Weapon types are given attack speeds to make each of them perform differently from the others. For example, a mace will take more time to swing than a sword but will naturally hit harder.

This addition not only affects normal attack speed but also the casting time of skills! Wands and staves also have this stat, so you should still keep your weapon attack speed in mind even when using a caster class as it will affect how strong or quick your spells will be.

Seasonal Battle Pass

Seasonal Battle Passes will also be added in Diablo 4 to help players build their character. Rewards, including in-game currencies and materials, will be given at every Battle Pass tier, which can be increased by completing game activities. The Battle Pass will have a free and a paid version, with the paid one offering exclusive cosmetics.

Improved Local Co-Op Interface

Diablo 4 - couch co-op UI

Local co-op will be supported and you will be able to play locally with a friend on consoles. Diablo 4's local co-op UI is also said to be optimized so that both players can have their own menus open without interfering each other.
