A Blaze in the Dark unlocks after completing the What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing Main Quest and reaching Union Level 20.

Catch the Two Thieves

 Head to the Bank Street in Ragunna and fly towards the Gondola to start. |

Afterwards you'll spot blue and red-haired thieves trying to break inside a house. Approach them and a cutscene will trigger. |
| 3 |
Look for footprints and inspect where they end. It should be in the same area as where you rode the Gondola in the first step. |
Head to the Black Alley's Entrance
Teleport to the Rinascita Hallowed Reach Nexus and go inside the maze until you find Zani. Afterwards attack the Sequence Mechanism multiple times to open the trapdoor. Sadly, nothing happens and a bunch of gang members appear instead which you will have to defeat.
Head Back to Ragunna
Teleport back to the Ragunna City-City Square beacon and have a seat on the table near Margherhita. A day will pass by, so sure to meet up with Zani, who's in front of the ice cream stall afterward.
After a long talk, you can head straight to Concierge, who has grey hair and white gloves. If you want to learn more about the Blazing Nightwalker, you can ask Zani, Margherita, and the Acolyte in the area.
Defeat the Gang Members
Head to a rooftop in Bank Street by riding a Wingray. After waiting for some time, you have to defeat four gang members. One will try to escape, so run after him despite all the smoke he throws. He'll end up at Margherhita's.
Head to the Hideout
Go south of Egla Town by teleporting to the Resonance beacon located southwest. Fly down and head inside the cave where you have to defeat multiple waves of enemies. This is all a distraction so Rover can locate the Runner.
Catch Up With the Runner
Chase the Runner who's on the Gondola using your Flight ability. He'll be around Mistveil Bay. After the entire chase, you'll finally enter the Black Alley with Zani and Colleen.
Explore the Black Alley
Inside, there are multiple Tacet Discords you have to defeat such as some Junrocks, and Aero Prisms. There are also bars you have to destroy by attacking it so you could proceed to the next area.
Solve the Messenger Statue Puzzle

Eventually you have to hit a Sequence Mechanism multiple times to unlock a room with a Messenger Statue. |

To solve the puzzle, you have to make all four statues look forward. You can discover this answer by talking to Zani and reading the Waterlogged Notes. Solving the puzzle should drain the water outside. |
Turn Off the Ventilator

When you drop down, there'll be enemies waiting. You have to defeat multiple Tacet Discords as you continue deeper into the Black Alley. Remember to hit any metal bars that block your way to proceed. |

 Eventually you'll reach the Ventilation Tunnel. Be sure to stand behind Zani the entire time as you'll be blown away if you don't. |

Once you see another Sequence Mechanism, rush towards it and hit it to turn off the ventilator. |
Solve the Second Statue Puzzle

Afterwards, you'll be met with three statues. Examining each one gives you multiple options to offer. To start, the left statue has lost their way, hence you should offer it guidance. |

The middle statue is scarred by betrayal, and should be offered loyalty. |

The right statue is consumed by doubt, and therefore you should offer it recognition. |
Investigate the Suspicious Trace
Once you solve the statue, you can now go deeper into the hideout. There'll be Tacet Discords waiting, so defeat them first. Afterwards, search around for clues. The golden beacon by the table will show you a suspicious trace.
By the end of the cutscene, rush to the trapdoor and defeat the Tacet Discords on the way
Follow Zani Through the Tunnel
Just like the previous Ventilation Tunnel, stand behind Zani the entire time. Be sure to open the chest on the way as well. This tunnel is also longer than the one from earlier.
After the cutscene, there are three Sequence Mechanisms you have to hit in under 35 seconds to stop the room from flooding.
Solve the Spiral Column Puzzle

Head to the Spiral Column and hit the Sequence Mechanism. |

Head back to the control panel and lower the spiral column. |

 Raise the spiral column through the control panel again, and hit the Sequence Mechanism located at the lower floor. Be sure to hit it multiple times to fully charge it. |

Go back to the control panel, and lower the spiral column again. |
Leap Around as a Cuddle Wuddle
After the puzzle, you'll enter a room where you leap around as a Cuddle Wuddle. When you reach the top, get ready to defeat more gang members as Zani and Rover.
Defeat Talos
Once the door opens, head inside and defeat Gang Fighter. Talos will appear afterwards and transform into a Phantom Capitaneus to fight you. During the Talos fight, Zani will always have her Resonance Liberation and Forte Circuit filled so have fun!
With Talos defeated, Ragunna is safe and the quest ends.

How to Return to the Black Alley
Players can return to the Black Alley to claim chests they may have missed during Zani's companion story. To go back to the quest area, there are two available entrances.
Entrance near Dream Patrol: Shattered Heart
The first entrance players may use can be found near Dream Patrol: Shattered Heart in Hallowed Reach. Fool's Gold and Resonant Calcite can also be found inside the tunnel, making for a good farming location as well.
Entrance near Hallowed Reach Resonance Nexus
As for the second entrance, it can be found near the Resonance Nexus for Hallowed Reach. This is a good area to teleport in, and it heals and revives team members before returning to the Black Alley.
