How to Play Amidst the Stars
Complete Chapter 1 Act 8 To the Shore's End
Apart from reaching the appropriate Union Level, you must first complete the entirety of the main quest To the Shore's end, alongside having the Trace Scale unlocked by completing the Scale of Memories Side Quest in Mt. Firmament.
Chapter 1 Act 8 To the Shore's End
Collect Photos Within the Black Shores Region
Clues will be given to you via the Scale of Past tab in the Amidst the Stars event screen in the form of text and a blurred visual of the location. Once at the location, you may take photos of a landmark with your Zoom Camera or simply interact with an object to collect a photo.
Initiate Side Quests for Photo Collection
To make the photo collection process smoother, you can simply begin the side quest Amidst the Stars or Cerulean Echoes Adrift in the Winds and progress through both of them to unlock all of the photos needed.
Event Available Indefinitely
Amidst the Stars is available to complete even after the end of Version 1.3 by selecting the Trace Scale in your inventory and tapping the Proceed button. Alternatively, you may also equip it in your Utility Wheel and access it from there.

Photos I-IV can be obtained by progressing the Amidst the Stars Side Quest, while photos V and VI can be obtained through the Cerulean Echoes Adrift in the Winds Side Quest.

Take a Photo of the Main Complex
Equip your Zoom Camera and point it toward the Black Shores' Greenhouse. Zoom out to capture a wide shot that includes both islands on either side of the main complex, then take a photo by pressing the camera button, or the F Key on PC.

Head over to the Eidoscope in Tethys' Deep and use your Sensor to locate a note at the edge of the table to the left. Interacting with it will grant you the second photo.

Fast-Travel to the nearest Resonance Beacon by the Modulation Hall in Tethys' Deep and follow the quest marker to a small outpost at the end of the road. Use your Sensor to search the area, then climb on top of the roof to interact with the ancient terminal and unlock the third photo.

Take a Photo of the Data Torrent
After interacting with the Shorekeeper's Illusion, use your Zoom Camera to take a photo of the Data Torrent from the balcony at The Bank of Life in Tethys' Deep.

These photos are collected at the same location after completing the water-ski challenge in Cerulean Echoes Adrift in the Winds: Part II and going through the Shorekeeper's portal to view a school of Aetherfins swimming through the air.
