Since Tempering and Masterworking are now introduced in Season 4, it will be in your best interest to plan especially with the streamlined and fast-paced progression of Season 4.
To make sure you're prepped for the endgame loop in WT3 and WT4, start farming upgrade materials, Tempering Manuals, unlocking map waypoints, and securing required codex aspects before you hit level 50.
Unlike previous seasons, the Season 4 questline is much shorter and now includes player progression. The seasonal questline involves participating in Helltides and doing short quest objectives so players can focus on grinding their characters.
Season 4 Questline Walkthrough
The Helltide should be your priority activity for leveling. As a part of Season 4, the Helltide is now active in World Tiers 1 and 2, making it a great activity for all players to grind their levels, acquire gear, and collect legendary aspects.
Helltide Event Guide (Season 4 Updated)
The Tempering System has been added in Season 4 which allows you to add focused affixes to your gear which are game-changing even during early-game. Farm Tempering Manuals by killing mobs in the Helltide as this activity has the highest mob density.
Make sure to finish up your Strongholds unlocks before hitting World Tier 3. Since some dungeons and legion events are locked behind strongholds, it's best to finish them early to make your leveling grind much faster.
All Stronghold Locations and Map
Complete your Capstone Dungeons and make your way to World Tier 4 and farm Nightmare Dungeons level up and upgrade your XP. These activities should eventually lead you to The Pit, a pinnacle activity that allows you to further upgrade your gear.

The main highlight of this season is the revamps made in the game's itemization, which will be applied in both the seasonal and eternal realms. The most notable ones among the changes are the introduction of the Tempering System, Masterworks, and Greater Affixes.
The combination of these new systems is said to change how players approach gearing up and builds as a whole.
Another focus for the season 4 update is the improvement of the Helltide event. Multiple events inspired by fan-favorite mechanics from previous seasons are being added, like the Accursed Ritual to summon a new boss, the Blood Maiden, which works similar to Season 2's Blood Harvest.
Helltides now feature a threat mechanic, which spawns more enemies the higher threat you have. The event will also be available for World Tiers 1 and 2 moving forward.
Helltide Time Schedule and Event Guide
A new pinnacle dungeon being introduced in this season is The Pit of Artificers. This closely resembles the Abattoir of Zir content that was released during Season 2 but with great changes and improvement based on player feedback.
The Pit consists of numerous tiers that will challenge your character and build as you progress. The rewards for conquering a Pit Dungeon will be tied to the new end-game upgrade system called the Masterworks.
This will be Season 4's most challenging content, so take advantage of the itemization changes to be well-prepared!
