Abattoir of Zir (AoZ) Requirements |
---|
|
The Abattoir of Zir (AoZ) is exclusive to Diablo 4 Season 2. Characters in the Eternal Realm will not be able to participate in the endgame event. If you have a seasonal character, you will need to reach Level 100 in order to survive this endgame dungeon.
Another requirement to unlock the Abattoir of Zir is Seasonal Journey completion. This includes finishing the Season 2 Questline and completing 7 out of 9 the difficult objectives in the Destroyer chapter of the Season 2 Journey.
Destroyer Chapter Objectives |
---|
Defeat Duriel in Torment World Tier (WT4). Purify 22,222 Seeds of Hatred. Open 10 Tortured Gifts during a single Helltide. Defeat 12 World Bosses. Equip at least 8 Ancestral Unique Items simultaneously. Complete a Tier 90 or Higher Nightmare Dungeon. Improve 5 Paragon Glyphs to Rank 21. Reach Reputation Level 18 in the Blood Harvest. Defeat the Echo of Lilith in Torment World Tier (WT4).

Note: Players who are looking to party up with someone who has the Abattoir of Zir dungeon unlocked will be disappointed as the endgame dungeon's unlock condition is tied to individual accounts.
Bloodforged Sigil Tier 1 | ・800 Sigil Powder ・60,000 Gold |
---|
Once you've completed the Seasonal Journey, you will gain access to the Devouring Dark seasonal quest. Complete it to unlock the ability to craft Bloodforged Sigils - a new type of key needed to access the Abattoir of Zir.
Head over to the Occultist in Ked Bardu to craft your first Tier 1 Bloodforged Sigil and consume it to open a portal into the Abattoir of Zir. Step into the Visceral Channel and prepare yourself for a difficult challenge.
Completing your first Abattoir of Zir dungeon will reward you with the Tears of Blood Paragon Glyph. This glyph has a max Level of 200 and gives you the required damage boost to run high tier Abattoir of Zir dungeons.
Tears of Blood Glyph Effects and How to Get
Completing the Abattoir of Zir dungeon will also reward you with increased Glyph XP as well as bonus Sigil Powder to offset the cost of crafting the Bloodforged Sigil. However, do note that like the Tears of Blood, these only drop if you manage to finish the dungeon.
Enemies that you'll encounter in the Abattoir of Zir Dungeons won't drop any gold or items. You will only get item rewards once you complete the Abattoir of Zir dungeon similar to end-of-dungeon rewards when finishing a regular Nightmare Dungeon.
Abattoir of Zir (AoZ) Tips |
---|
|
Before you can consider running the Abattoir of Zir, make sure to familiarize yourself with the Season 2 meta. Pivot towards using a high tier endgame build, especially if you're a fresh Level 100 or if you're rocking an off meta build like Companion Druid.
Remember, the challenge will be time-based. This means you will need to strike a balance between damage and survivability, all while trying to complete what is essentially a Tier 100+ Nightmare Dungeon.
Before running the Abattoir of Zir, make sure you can complete a Tier 100 Nightmare Dungeon without dying. If you cannot complete a Tier 100 NMD solo, then you may need to keep farming and optimizing your build before attempting an AoZ dungeon.
For new level 100s, do note that Uber Lilith is not a good metric for endgame build quality. Killing Uber Lilith does not compare to the difficulty curve of a Tier 100+ Dungeon and the triple gauntlet of Bloodseekers that can usually one-shot you in the Abattoir of Zir.
Resistance Priority |
---|
Fire > Lightning > Poison > Shadow > Cold |
Resistances play a huge part in ensuring you survive many of the new and dangerous dungeon affixes in the Abattoir of Zir. Before attempting an AoZ run, make sure your character is capped at 75% (or is near cap) for all elemental resistances in the game.
Item breakpoints in Diablo 4 will affect the affix rolls of your equipment, and will be a chief pain point when min maxing builds for Abattoir of Zir. Before entering AoZ, make sure you're using iLevel 925 + 25 equipment for safer dungeon clears.
Some good sources of 925 item drops are the new Uber Bosses introduced in Season 2 (like Echo of Varshan) as well as the World Bosses that spawn throughout Sanctuary.
Item Power and Breakpoints Explained
Before entering the Visceral Channel and attempting your first Abattoir of Zir dungeon, make sure to prepare Elixirs that give defensive buffs. Consume Elixirs that buff any missing Resistances of your build or ones that buff your HP and Armor.
A lot of the unlisted dungeon affixes in the Abattoir of Zir will have a high chance to one-shot you. Since death means a failed run, make sure you play slowly and methodically, paying attention to the dungeon's hazards to increase your chances of survival.
If possible, play around the different Shrines that you find inside the AoZ dungeon. This is especially true when fighting the 3 Bloodseekers that spawn since they use player affixes and are more than capable of one-shotting you if you misstep.
Upon entering the Abattoir of Zir dungeon, a 10-minute timer will start counting down. Defeat enemies inside the dungeon to start filling the bar found on the right side of the screen. You will need to fill this bar before time runs out, otherwise the run will fail.
Once the bar is filled, 3 Bloodseekers will spawn as the dungeon's bosses. Defeat them within the remaining time limit in order to complete the Dungeon. Dying or failing to kill them within the time limit will result in the run failing.
During this entire AoZ run, you will only have 1 Life. Dying will automatically fail the dungeon run, booting you out of the instance and requiring you to re-craft a Bloodforged Sigil to get a second attempt.
When playing with a group, revives are disabled. If one person in your party dies, the dungeon will automatically fail, booting everyone out of the instance much like when you die as a solo.
The Abattoir of Zir (AoZ) seasonal endgame event started on December 5, 2023 at 10 AM PST, launching alongside Patch 1.2.3. This event is slated to run for six weeks and will end on January 23, 2024.
While Abattoir of Zir is a seasonal event for Season 2, Activision Blizzard has stated that they will be taking feedback for this event into consideration and possibly have it return for future seasons.
