Diablo 4 - What Carries Over to Seasons

What Carries Over to Seasons?

Features Confirmed to Carry Over

Campaign Skip for Seasonal Characters

As mentioned in the July 6th Developer Livestream, players will be able to skip the campaign when creating Seasonal characters. This allows them to immediately experience the new Malignant Heart gameplay mechanic and new story questlines without having to re-do the entire campaign.

However, do note that in order to access the Skip Campaign feature during the Season, players will first need to complete Diablo 4's main story on at least one character in their account.

Mounts Carry Over Once Unlocked During Act 4

Mounts are also confirmed to be permanently unlocked for every future character you make once you've completed the Mount: Donan's Favor Priority Quest for the first time. This Mount unlock will also extend to any Seasonal Characters you make using your account.

You can receive and complete this quest from Stable Master Oskar in Kyovashad after completing A Master's Touch and reaching Act 4 of the main story.

Stat and Renown Bonuses from Altars of Lilith

Diablo 4 - Stat Bonuses from Altars of Lilith

As confirmed in the July 6th Developer Livestream, any stats and Murmuring Obol capacity increase you receive from finding Altars of Lilith will carry over to Seasons. Additionally, all Renown earned from discovering the Altars of Lilith will also carry over to any seasonal character you create.

To maximize efficiency for all future seasons, make sure to find and activate all the Altars of Lilith in Sanctuary before the start of Season 1 on July 20, 2023. This will give any seasonal character you create a huge headstart at the beginning of each new season.

World Map Discovery and Renown Bonuses

From the July 6th Developer Livestream, it has also been confirmed that your World Map discovery in the Eternal Realm will carry over to Seasons, removing the fog of war for all of your Seasonal Characters in the process (provided you've uncovered the entire world).

Additionally, any Renown you earned from discovering the different locations in each region will also carry over, again giving you access to the first few Renown bonuses as early as level 1 during the start of each new Season.

Weapon and Armor Transmogs

Finally, during the Q and A segment of the July 6th Developer Livestream, it was also confirmed that any Weapon and Armor Transmogs you may have unlocked in the Eternal Realm and any Shop Cosmetics you've purchased will carry over to your seasonal characters.

Players looking to slap on their hard-earned transmogs and cosmetics can rest easy knowing these will be available to any seasonal character you create moving forward.

What Doesn't Carry Over to Seasons?

Features Confirmed to Not Carry Over

❌ Confirmed to Not Carry Over to Seasons
Aspects in your Codex of Power
Currencies like Gold, Red Dust, and Murmuring Obols
Upgrade Materials (Plants, Ores, Skins, Monster Parts, and Salvage)
・Items in your Stash

It has been confirmed that the above items will not carry over to Season 1. When using a seasonal character, players will not have access to any Aspects, Currencies, and Stashes they have collected in the Eternal Realm.

However, do note that once a season ends, everything earned during the Season (including your character) will transfer over to the Eternal Realm. This of course includes any items you farmed during the season and the various cosmetics you earned using your seasonal character.

When Does Season 1 Start?

How to Carry Over Progress to Seasons

Log In Using Your Eternal Realm Characters

Diablo 4 Season 1 - Season of the Malignant Launch Date

The developers have made it abundantly clear that the process of carrying over your progress to the Seasonal Realm will be a bit clunky. To carry over any progress you may have made using your Eternal Realm playthrough (including map and Altars of Lilith progress), simply log in to Diablo 4 from July 18 onwards using one (or all of your characters) on the account.

Best practice would be to log in using a character you've maxed out Altars of Lilith and map discovery renown for as this will register the data of that character and transfer it over to any future characters you make both in the Seasonal and Eternal Realms of Diablo 4.
