The Arcane Tremor is a new seasonal activity introduced during Season 3 of Diablo 4 (D4). Read on to learn more about Arcane Tremors, including how they work, how to farm them, as well as their rewards and locations!
List of Contents
Arcane Tremors are the Season 3 version of Blood Harvests (Season 2) and the regular Helltide. However, unlike the two, this event is held within fixed areas around the map and will always be active throughout the duration of Season 3.
Upon exploring the area, players are challenged to defeat a new enemy type called Constructs in order to farm seasonal materials needed to upgrade your pet construct and enter the new Vault Dungeons at WT3+.
Defeat constructs inside the Arcane Tremors play area to farm Shattered Stone and Elemental Cores. Use them to summon Heralds of Malphas that you can challenge and defeat in order to get Pearls of Warding with a rare chance to drop Igneous Cores at WT4.
Defeating Heralds of Malphas will reward you with either a Governing Stone or a Tuning Stone. These stones are the new powers that you can slot into your pet construct similar to the Vampiric Powers system back in Season 2.
While not as amazing and dense as S2 Blood Harvests, the Arcane Tremors event is still an excellent area for leveling due to its decent overworld mob density and location variety.
Couple these with its events overlapping with the Tree of Whisper objectives and you have the perfect areas for farming XP, Gold, Gear, and Whisper Completion throughout the entire season.
Scattered throught the Arcane Tremor play area will be Obelisks. Easily spotted on your map, these structures are stationary traps that can inflict damage or freeze on your character depending on their element type.
Interact with them to temporarily disable the trap. Doing so rewards you with Elemental Cores which are needed to summon Heralds of Malphas within the Arcane Tremor area.
Obelisks are not the only source of Elemental Cores inside the Arcane Tremor. Construct Beacons (a special type of chest), Guardsman Construct Elites, and Arcane Tremor Events will all reward you with Elemental Cores once completed or defeated.
Once you have enough Elemental Cores, head over to a Brazier within the Arcane Tremor. Use 3 Elemental Cores and 50 Shattered Stone to summon a Herald of Malphas.
Killing the special elites will reward you with a Governing Stone, a Pearl of Warding, gold, and a guaranteed Legendary item (at Level 26). There is also a small chance that it drops a Tuning Stone (instead of a Governing Stone) and, at WT4, an Igneous Core.
Remember that the loot reward is shared when summoning and defeating the Herald of Malphas from the Braziers found inside the Arcane Tremors. Take advantage of this by grouping up with other players and chaining summons to maximize the rewards.
While exploring Arcane Tremors, you may encounter a rather tanky mini boss called the Son of Malphas. Defeat it to get XP, random loot, and a large amount of Elemental Cores for the trouble. Like the Butcher encounters, dying to this mini boss will despawn it.
As of Patch 1.3.0a, the Son of Malphas now also guarantees an Igneous Core drop at WT4. These special materials are use to open the Vault of the Loom endgame dungeon which allows you to challenge the Echo of Malphas endgame boss.
The primary rewards for participating in the Arcane Tremors event are materials used in Season 3. You will earn varying amounts of Shattered Stone, Elemental Cores, Pearls of Warding, Governing Stones, and Igneous Cores (WT4) when running this new event.
Rewards | How to Use |
---|---|
Shattered Stone | Used to craft Vault Sigils at the Occultist upon reaching WT3+ to unlock Nightmare Vaults. Used to activate Braziers and summon Heralds of Malphas in Arcane Tremors. Used to craft Seneschal Stone caches to get a random stone drop. |
Elemental Core | Used to activate Braziers and summon Heralds of Malphas in Arcane Tremors. |
Pearl of Warding | Offered at Zoltun Statues to get stacks of Zoltun's Warding inside Nightmare Vaults. |
Governing Stone | Equipped by your Seneschal Construct (pet) to gain a Melee, Ranged, or Utility ability. Duplicates are immediately consumed to upgrade existing Governing Stones. |
Igneous Core | Used to open the Vault of the Loom endgame dungeon at WT4 where you can challenge Uber Malphas. |
There is a very small chance that Heralds of Malphas will drop a Tuning Stone instead of a Governing Stone. These unique stones are also used to upgrade your Seneschal's abilities by pairing their effects with the skills granted by equipped Governing Stones.
Some Arcane Tremor areas will overlap with your Tree of Whispers contracts. You can complete marked Arcane Tremor activities to earn Grim Favors that count towards Whisper completion.
Enemies, Elites, and Heralds of Malphas will all reward you with a considerable amount of XP and Gold. And, after Patch 1.3.0a, you also get guaranteed Legendary Items from Heralds of Malphas starting at Level 26.
At the start of your season journey, these Arcane Tremors are perfect places to farm in for easy progression. Once you hit endgame, they become an amazing source of Non-Codex Legendary Aspects due to the guaranteed drop rate of Legendaries.
You can find one Arcane Tremor event for every region during Season 3. To determine the location of an Arcane Tremor event, look for a green leaf and fire icon on the map, similar to the icons used for Helltides and previous Seasonal Events.
These Arcane Tremor events do not despawn or transfer to a different location. They will persist until the Season of the Construct ends. There is no downtime for this event, allowing you to continuously farm it for XP if you want to.
