How to Farm Tempering Manuals

Participate in Helltides

Magic Manuals Can be Farmed Against Normal Enemies

Magic Manuals will be the first manuals you find due to how easy they can be obtained. To obtain Magic Manuals, simply defeat enemies as these enemies have a low chance of dropping the lowest rarity of manuals. Consider farming enemies in helltides for a higher chance of obtaining them!

Rare Manuals Have a High Chance of Dropping from Helltide Elites

Rare Manuals can primarily be obtained by defeating elite monsters in helltides. While it is not guaranteed, they do have a higher drop rate chance for these manuals so consider hunting all elites you can find or increasing your world tier to encounter more elites in helltides!

Legendary Manuals Are Obtained from Blood Maidens

The Blood Maidens which can be summoned by using three pieces of Traces of the Maiden. Different players can divide their Traces to have more summon instances for Blood Maidens so consider grouping up with people or joining other players that are battling the Maiden to get more Legendary Manuals!

What Are Tempering Manuals?

Items Used to Add Affixes to Gear

Tempering Manuals are items that allow you to add affixes to any Rare or Legendary gear at a Blacksmith. Upon obtaining a Tempering Manual, you will need to learn (right click on PC) the recipes associated with the Manual. Upon learning the recipe, you can now add these affixes to any eligible item!

Do note that the affix added to your item is random and will be chosen based on the available affixes of a Temper Manual.

Tempering Manuals Have Unlimited Uses

Diablo 4 - Boots with new Affixes

Upon obtaining a Temper Manual, you will have unlimited uses for them but can only attach one of their available affixes at a time.

All Blacksmith Features

Missed Manuals Appear on the Stash

Much like Legendary gear, Manuals you fail to pick up will appear as a missed item. While it may be difficult to differentiate the Manuals from other gear, do not be afraid of missing out on the said manuals as they can easily be retrieved in town!
