Season 7 Leveling Guide (Level 1-30)

How to Level Up from 1 to 30

1. Decide on A Leveling Build

First, decide and plan on a leveling build you would want to use throughout your Season 7 journey. Although it's ideal to choose a build you're comfortable with, it's best to choose an efficient build that can help you clear mobs faster.

2. Play on Hard Difficulty

It is worth playing on Hard difficulty for the 75% XP boost. However, if you are having a hard time clearing enemies, you can revert to Normal difficulty in Kyovashad or Cerrigar.

How to Change World Tier Difficulty

3. Complete the Vessel of Hatred Campaign (Optional)

1 Finish the Vessel of Hatred Story Campaign

If you have the Vessel of Hatred expansion you can progress its Campaign to level up fast and easily. This levelling method is best recommended for players new to the expansion or prefer a more guided path of progression. The expansion campaign quests reward a lot XP and will end when you reach around level 50+.

If you do not have the expansion, your best activities for leveling are the Helltide, Tree of Whispers, and Realmwalkers!

4. Start the Seasonal Quest and Acquire New Witchcraft Powers

Diablo 4 - Start the Seasonal Quest and Acquire New Witchcraft Powers

Go to Gae Kul and speak with Witch Gelena to start the Seasonal Quest to start gaining reputation for the Coven's Favour and unlock the new Witchcraft Powers after earning a bit of Restless Rot from a Headhunt.

Vessel of Hatred Prologue Completion Required

Witch Gelena in Gea Kul is only available if you've completed the prologue of the Vessel of Hatred expansion. If you do not own the expansion, you only need to complete the main campaign.

5. Participate in Headhunts

Diablo 4 - Do Headhunts and Earn Grim Favor

After unlocking new Witchcraft Powers, keep doing Headhunts as these are one of the best early game option for leveling right now. The mob density is really high and it drops a lot of Gem Fragments, Restless Rot, and gear you can swap to frequently.

Headhunt Explained

Remember to Complete Whispers Along the Way

Headhunts feature all new Whispers you can complete to earn Grim Favor. You'll be able to claim the Reward Caches from the Tree of Whispers or the new Ravens of the Tree scattered across the map.

How to Complete the Tree of Whispers

6. Try to Complete the Early Chapters of the Season Journey

Season Journey Rewards

Completing the early chapters of the Season Journey should be your earliest goal which you can finish by participating or clearing different content in the game. Doing so rewards you with different Caches that contain different gear, materials, and Smoldering Ashes.

7. Use the Urn of Aggression Season Blessing

Diablo 4 - Season Blessings

As soon as you unlock your first Smoldering Ashes from the Battle Pass, immediately use them on the Urn of Aggression to receive the 5% XP boost from monster kills. It is highly recommended to max out this blessing first before moving on to other blessings to get to the maximum level of 60 quick, and to farm Paragon experience faster.

8. Complete Your Class Specialization Quest

Diablo IV - Druid Specialization Quest Journal

Starting on Season 7, accounts that have completed a class's Specialization Quest, do not need to complete the quest to unlock the Class Specilization for any future characters of that class anymore. However, it's still recommended to complete the specilization quest as it now also rewards you with a Cache which rewards you with a few legendaries and Tempering Recipes.

If you have not completed any Specialization Quests, they can be accessed at Level 15 (or Level 25 if you're a Necromancer or a Sorcerer), and will be marked on your map. This unlocks fundamental mechanic that each class has, such as the Barbarian's Arsenal mechanic.

9. Do Some Helltide Runs

Diablo 4 - Accursed Rituals

In the early game, we recommend doing a couple of runs of Helltide to complete the Season Journey. This requires you to open collect 666 Aberrant Cinders and open a Tortured Gift.

In the later-stages of the game, Helltides are a good way of leveling if you don't need upgrades for your Witchcraft Powers because of the increasing mob density. You will have to farm more Helltide later to finish more of the Season Journey and fight the Blood Maiden.

10. Clear Dungeons and Strongholds

Diablo 4 Chakhir Stronghold Overworld

Once you get enough materials to start crafting gear, complete the Dungeons around the map that have powerful Legendary Aspects that you can access now. Note that some Dungeons require you to clear the nearby Strongholds in order to access, so completing those first is required.

Completing Stronholds also unlocks the Gathering Legion event which you can participate in to complete the Season Journey.

Season 7 Leveling Guide (Level 30-50)

How to Level Up from 30 to 50

1. Complete the Witchcraft Seasonal Questline

Crusader Damond Location

It's highly recommended to progress through the Seasonal Questline by completing Headhunts, Rootholds, and collecting Grim Favors to unlock all the new Witchcraft Powers. These powers will be an essential source of character power and will help you farm clear content in the future.

2. Clear Rootholds

Activate a Rite, Ritual, or Ceremony

Rootholds are new seasonal dungeons that feature a “risk and reward” system similar to Infernal Hordes which increases the rewards you get by adding more difficult modifiers to the dungeon. You can access Rootholds by obtaining Whisper Wood Sigils from Whisper Caches.

3. Continue Doing Headhunts

Participate in Headhunts

Headhunts should be your focus during leveling in Expert and Penitent difficulty. Complete Whispers in Headhunts to gain Coven's Favor Reputation so you can make use of the new Season 7 mechanics.

Helltides are still a viable option for leveling due to the experience gained from Tortured Chests, but it's recommended to only do them to complete your Season 7 Journey.

4. Do Kurast Undercity Runs

Artificer

Once you get your build running, you can add Kurast Undercity runs in your rotation of content to run. This dungeon requires you to speed run through it, but gives a good amount of Gold, Legendaries, and important materials.

Using Tributes can also be a good way to target farm a specifc gear or Legendary Aspects if you need them earlier.

How to Level Up from 50 Onwards

1. Complete Nightmare Dungeons

Complete Nightmare Dungeons

Consider running Nightmare Dungeons to obtain legendary items, Infernal Compasses, and Artificer's Stones for your Pit runs.

You'll also get Obducite which is required to further enhance your equipment so you can push for higher diffulties and tiers in the Pit.

2. Run the Pit of Artificers

Once you gain access to the Pit, try to push higher tiers to max out the level of the Glyphs for your Paragon Board. The Pit is also an ideal activity for leveling beyond level 60 as it grants a ton of XP when completed, allowing you to skip Paragon Levels in some cases.

The Pit Guide and How to Unlock

3. Run Infernal Hordes

Once you reach Torment difficulty, you can start doing Infernal Hordes by using Infernal Compasses which can be obtained from Nightmare Dungeons.

Although the Infernal Hordes is an ideal activity for leveling up, your main goal for this activity is to acquire Ancestral Legendary gear which can help you push your build further. The Spoils of Greater Equipment guarantees Ancestral Legendary items for 200 Aether.

4. Finish Season Journey

Completing the requirements for the Season Journey, or at least most of it should be pretty easy upon reaching this point in the game. You should prioritize completing this to get the reward caches that contain the summoning materials for Uber Bosses.

5. Craft Occult Gems

Craft Occult Gems

At this stage, start crafting Occult Gems to refine your build and get significant boosts in power.

If you farmed experience in Headhunt zones, you should have a stockpile of Restless Rot and Fugitive Heads already, which are requirements for crafting Occult Gems.

Note that you'll need to learn the crafting recipes first from grimoires, which only drop starting on Torment I difficulty.
