Farming Artificer's Stones |

Turning in Whispers of the Dead bounties is the best way to farm Artificer's Stones as it rewards you with a lot of these materials through the Whisper Caches. This makes it the most efficient way to farm Artificer's Stones considering that it's now easier to obtain 10 Grim Favors.
How to Complete the Tree of Whispers
You can obtain Artificer's Stones by completing high-tier Nightmare Dungeons. The Artificer's Stone will be automatically rewarded and can be found in the Consumables tab at the end of the dungeon if you are fortunate enough to get one.
Participating in Helltide by defeating enemies and opening chests will also reward you with Artificer's Stones.
Artificer's Stones can also be acquired from Legion Event Chests. However, since this content is time-gated, it is not efficient to farm Artificer's Stones during these events.
Legion Event Timer and Locations
World Events, such as World Bosses are always worth participating in as they're good sources of extra materials other than Artificer's Stones. But just like Legion Events, these are time-gated content and thus not an efficient or reliable way to farm Artificer's Stones.
World Boss Schedule and Locations
The Infernal Horde is an endgame activity that allows players to obtain guaranteed Ancestral Gear and Masterworking materials. You can obtain Artificer's Stones in this activity by defeating the Fell Council at the end, or by opening either the Spoils of Greater Equipment or the Spoils of Materials.
Kurast Undercity is a new time-based dungeon that allows you to augment your rewards through Tributes. Regardless of the tribute you use, there's always a chance to obtain Artificer's stones either from the dungeon boss or the reward chest at the end of the dungeon.
Seething Opals of Torment can increase the drops of Artificer's Stone in all activities listed above. You can obtain Seething Opals of Torment by using Sigil Powders in the Seething Realm after you bring down a Realmwalker.
Artificer's Stone is the material required to enter The Pit of the Artificer in Cerrigar, located in the Scosglen region. The amount of Artificer's Stones required to enter may vary depending on the Tier level of the dungeon you are trying to open.

An ancient token used by the Horadrim to enter The Pit of the Artificer. Most often found in Whisper Bounties, Helltide and Legion Chests, and from Nightmare Dungeons and World Bosses. |
On the Season 6: Hatred Rising update, which was released along with the Vessel of Hatred Expansion, Runeshards have been renamed to Artificer's Stones. This is likely due to the Expansion's addition of Runewords, which function completely differently from Runeshards.
Runeshards, now known as Artificer's Stones, functions the same as before and is primarily used to enter The Pit of the Artificer and drops from the same content as previously
