Pokémon Champions Features Cross Platform Battles For Mobile and Switch

Currently In Development

Pokémon Champions was just revealed during the Pokémon Presents event in February 2025. It will be released for the Nintendo Switch as well as mobile devices.

According to the promotional video, Pokémon Champions will support Pokémon GO and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, allowing players to transfer their beloved partners from those games into Pokémon Home. The game will then use Pokémon Home data to recreate them within its own system.

The full extent of Pokémon Champions' features is still unknown. However, if the trailer is to be trusted, it will allow players to battle using Competitive Pokémon Rules, which follow the Double Battles format. In other words, there's a possibility that Pokémon Champions could become the main software for Pokémon VGC tournaments, similar to how Pokémon Stadium, Colosseum, and XD were used in the past. According to the official website, the game will support Ranked Battles and Casual Battles, which should be similar to the same modes available in the mainline Pokémon games.

Pokémon Champions will likely support additional games beyond those shown in the trailer, as Pokémon Home currently also supports Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Eevee! However, the trailer also mentions certain limitations, such as only Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Champions being transferable from Pokémon Home. Additionally, Pokémon obtained in Pokémon Champions cannot be deposited back into Pokémon Home.

If Pokémon Legends: Z-A is compatible with Pokémon Home, any new Pokémon or Mega Evolutions introduced in the game might eventually be added to Pokémon Champions—possibly even at launch.

Unfortunately, no release date has been announced for Pokémon Champions yet, so fans will have to wait for future updates on this ambitious attempt to connect multiple generations of Pokémon games into one.
