the Animal Crossing: New Horizons guidebook has a printing saying it only affects HHA scores, this is speculation from previous games and using "it seems like we had better luck" instead of primary sources

This information is incorrect; the luck mechanisms were removed from NH. Feng Shui only effects your HHA score.
When you say that rare bugs and fish spawn more after completing all the colors in Feng Shui, what do you mean by completing? Is there a maximum number of points per color? I have more red and green than yellow and have reached the max # of items in my main room. Would it be better to evenly distribute the items across the colors? I know investigation is ongoing, thanks for this excellent guide! I have been a fan of AC Feng Shui since the beginning. :-)
I doubt four-leaf clovers will be making a comeback in this game, i always used to wear that for good luck.
