So it's basically like with a scorpion. When their pincers are in the air you don't move. When they move down and relax momentarily, you move towards it. Pincers in air = stop. Pincers down = move towards it.
The trick to catching stags/cicadas is sneaking. As soon as you find the bug, try to get on the side of the tree and hold A. it doesn't matter if the entire net is in front of the bug (a good way to practice is to place an object and then drop something next to it. if your on the same space as the dropped object, that means you'd scare the bug)
I have yet to encounter this or the Golden Stag, but from what I've read, they will almost certainly fly away if you try to approach them via conventional bug catching means. The trick seems to be that you have to only move when it's mandibles are moving, and when it stops, you stop. Like a game of red light/green light. At least, that's what I've read about the Golden Stag, so maybe it's true for this one as well.
I’ve never managed to catch one, it always flies away before I’m in range.
is this supposed to be really hard to catch because its my last bug
