How to Get Baneful Hearts

Drops from Tortured Gifts

To obtain Baneful Hearts, you need to collect Aberrant Cinders during Helltides and use them to open Tortured Gifts. These chests have a high chance of dropping Baneful Hearts.

As of patch 1.5.0, the chance to get a Baneful Heart from a Tortured Gift will now start at 15% and will increase until you get one. Once you obtain a Baneful Heart from a Tortured Gift, the chance will reset to 15%.

How to Farm Aberrant Cinders

Item Drop from Helltide Commanders and World Bosses

You can now obtain Baneful Hearts with a 100% drop chance from Helltide Commanders. You can summon these commanders from Helltide-specific world events.

World Bosses in a Helltide Zone will now always drop 3 Baneful Hearts upon defeat.

Can Drop from Hellborne and Helltide Assassin

Hellborne and the Helltide Assassin now have a 1% chance to drop Baneful Hearts. The 1% chance will continue increasing until you get a heart. This chance will reset back to 1% once you obtain a Baneful Heart.

Chance to Drop From Local Event Chests

The chests at the end of Local Events found in the Helltide have a small chance to drop hearts if you achieve Mastery.

Can Also Drop from Journey Caches

When you are doing the Season 4 Journey, you can get Journey Caches as a reward for completing a chapter. These Caches have a chance of dropping Baneful Hearts as well.

How to Use Baneful Hearts

Offer Them at an Accursed Ritual

In order to use a Baneful Heart, you have to look for an Accursed Ritual during Helltides and offer them on each Altar (total of 3) to start the ritual that summons the Blood Maiden.

Keep in mind that you need at least 2-3 Baneful Hearts, which can be cumulatively offered by other players, to do this.

Keep Track During Helltides

The amount of Baneful Hearts you currently possess can be shown at the top right portion of your screen. This only shows when you are participating in a Helltide. Collect as many Baneful Hearts as you can if you want to farm Exquisite Blood from the Blood Maiden.
