I started off only being able to get Pascal at the back of my island, but for the last two weeks he shows up anywhere after I find my first scallop. They may have fixed this issue with the last update.
I have no trouble getting Pascal on my own island, no matter where I swim he turns up after the first scallop, apart from his second visit when he made me find 5 before showing up. However I have not managed to find him or any scallops on mystery islands. Am I just being unlucky, has anyone found either on a mystery island tour?
Try only swimming at the back of your island at at the mouth of your rivers, I do everything in this guide and it works fine as long as I’m at the back of my island
yup, I only swim in the back waters and he shows up at the first scallop if I have space in my inventory. Wish he'd give less pearls and more DIYs/items tho!
From my experience, I think you have to be by the back of your island for Pascal to show up. On the second day of swimming around I found a few scallops but he didn’t show up until I was in the waters behind my island. Ever since then I only swim behind my island and he shows up the first time I get a scallop every time. If anyone tests this and can confirm that would be great.
the recipes and pearls are so hard to get :(
He only gives me pearls and no diy or other items.. why?

I noticed something! I ordered my swimsuit with the nook shopping and Pascal wasn't showing up. However, as soon as I had bought the swimsuit at Nook's Cranny, he did. You have to make sure you bought a swimsuit at the shop of the island! (I don't know if you have to wear it or not though, but I was wearing mine when it happened)
These guides are all wrong. There is space in my inventory, I have caught multiple scallops, and Pascal has never shown up.
He didn’t show up after my first two scallops, should I be concerned?
No, it is night time at my island as well and he came. He didn’t come until I caught my fourth scallop. Then on my fifth, he didn’t come. So I don’t think he comes after EVERY scallop, but I would still save them as you can trade them for pearls.
I just found a scallop but don’t see pascal anywhere :/ could it be because it’s night time?
