The Mole Cricket is a uncommon bug and sells for 500 Bells.
The Mole Cricket lives underground, so it can be hard to find. However, it makes a loud croaking sound. The closer you are to it, the louder the sound will be.
Unfortunately, if you are not able to hear sounds while playing your game, finding the Mole Cricket may just come down to happenstance, since the Mole Cricket has no visual cues.
When hunting for the Mole Cricket, it is highly recommended to put your Shovel and Net beside one another in your inventory for easy tool switching.
At the loudest part of the croaking noise, use your Shovel to dig at any empty ground tiles. Spaces with flowers, trees, items, or custom paths cannot contain the Mole Cricket. Only grass and soil tiles with nothing on them have a chance of spawning the Mole Cricket.
The Mole Cricket will pop out and start crawling away if you dig the correct tile.
Quickly switch to your Net, and swing it at the Mole Cricket before it despawns.

May to November South Hemisphere All Day |
You can find the Mole Cricket underground all day.
Find it from November to May on the Northern Hemisphere, or from May to November on the Southern Hemisphere.
“I caught a mole cricket! I really dug it!” |
| “Be warned, there is nowhere one might hide from the mole cricket. This plump pest has powerful front claws made for digging holes, and oh how it loves to burrow underground! A cousin to the grasshopper, it also has wings and can easily take to the air. And I swear this on my pinfeathers... Some have even been seen walking on water! Oh mercy, I may need a moment. This is making me feel rather woozy...” |
